Default Best bushing replacements for my 88' CRX?

What's up guys, a couple weeks ago I talked about getting my 88' crx Si track ready over the next year, and swapping out my b16 for my built turbo ls/vtec... As the car sits right now it's still a street car, the registration will be canceled soon, and I will be taking the car apart slowly and taking care of a few things. I prefer to work from the ground up, so with that said my suspension needs new bushings badly. And wanted to know what you guys recommend?

The only company I've seen that offers these stock replacements in urethane is "Energy Suspension", and regardless of "red" or "black" I've heard good reviews on their products. But could someone explain the major differences between the original "red" and the newer "black"? Is it just a harder compound, and what are the pros/cons of each? And if there's a better alternative out there, then please point me in that direction!

Thanks guys,

Anthony

I would be looking at a master kit like this on from jegs...

I still have a gift certificate to jegs, so I figured I might as well us it wisely...

Come on, some one give me a quick run down my options... I don't have a problem with urethane bushings, but I don't want to miss out on a better product if one exists!

Thanks,

Some folks have had issues with suspension binding if they use poly throughout the entire thing. That being said, poly in the front and rear lower control arms, front upper control arms, and rear toe links wouldn't be bad. Front radius rods and the large rear trailing arm bushings you should probably go with OE Honda or sphericals. Lower shock mounts I'd suggest OE Honda. In a perfect world, sphericals throughout are the answer but they're certainly not cheap...

The difference between "red" and "black" poly is that the black poly is impregnated with graphite and seems to stay lubed and in one piece better than the "red" parts.

Thank man for clearing that up, but do companies make pre-fabbed sphericals for specific cars or do you have to just find the right one out of the parts bin for your needs? I would love to get sphericals all the way around, but won't the down side be an extremely harsh ride on top of what ever springs/struts your running, and is the trade off worth it? I guess the extra tightness it adds to the suspension is probably worth it... But would you really notice a difference from all poly to all spherical and is it worth the investment? I guess the next thing to look into is how long do each last, and how much lubing do the sphericals need, and will they wear out in only a few years? Poly's are the best bang for your buck, but are sphericals worth the extra cash?

Thanks again,

Wicked Tuning makes an extensive line on the spherical stuff.

Look at the bottom of this page

Contact Matt Lang at MLR Motorsports as he is the east coast distributor

No problem.

OEM will probably last the longest, Poly probably is the best bang for the buck, sphericals are the best outight. For just a "track car", I'd suggest either a blend of poly and OEM or just straight OEM. The only exception is the radius rod bushing... definitely upgrade that one to spherical if you've got the $$. FWIW, Progress Suspension also makes some "off the shelf" spherical options... I'm not familiar with Wicked Tuning but their stuff may be good too.

Thanks,
