Common Mods That Are Really Bad Ideas

most idiotic, but common honda mods and ideas
feel free to list them. maybe this thread will work on a guide what not to do.
1. put a single runner manifold on a GSR without chipping the ecu or changing it out.
2. bolting on a turbo package and assuming that your ECU will know what to do with itself and the big injectors that you installed.
3. asking questions that come up in the first page of hits on google or our search button.
4. giving opinions on things you really have no clue about.
5. removing your ABS because you somehow believe that it will make you faster.

Shaving down brake calipers and brackets to make bigger brakes or rims fit, spending more than your car is worth to make it not that much faster, honestly believing that your car is worth as much as you say it is, always believing that your car is faster than the car next to you, and modding a car that was never EVER meant to have any power or go as fast as it does.

do not buy an xs engineering ecu with an 8400 rpm rev limit for a bone stock 90 ls. it'll last about 2 months. i speak from experience. lol

I have ITR calipers and redrilled 92-96 Prelude VTEC rotors on the front of my GSR and the brackets were machined 2mm. Interesting...

race cars DO use abs. traction control is even used where legal, as are yaw sensors. you will absolutely run a slower lap without abs than you will with it. i would bet cash that both of the people who tried to comment on removing the ABS have never driven a lap on the road course. in fact, i will even explain why a car is faster with abs. without it when you fly into the outside of a corner and setup to cut the apex you run the risk of tire lockup if you just plant your foot to the floor. it's a real learned art to achive a high level of braking without it. with abs you can just plant your foot at the last second, bring the speed down, pitch the car on your line and get back on the gas after you pass the apex of the corner. only 100% drag race cars or people who live in solid snow would benefit from abs removal. by the way, i agree this should have been posted in GD, that was my bad.

Installing Dashboards that weren't original for your car, especially if they don't fit right.
Gutting out your DD.
Removing PS, AC, ABS, and CC on your DD.
Painting things that don't match, (hood being painted black to resemble CF)
Not giving proper maintenance to your car, then whining why it runs like ****.
Illegaly racing your car.
Engine modification without having the slightest clue on why, how or what.
Just my 2 cents from yours truly.

putting a loud exhaust on you car... a dohc honda motor sounds sooo good... why do you want to drown it out?
boosting a high compression motor and expecting it to last.
if you're wise you'll save your money and boost a subaru or something thats gonna deliver what you want out of it.
slamming your car in a non-flatland area.... trust me... your car maybe fast but you cant drive it fast out herrrrrr
removing power steering on a DD.
slouching in your seat, first of all, look like you're old enough to drive... second of all you have 2 sense and would like to see over the hood a little more, and three realize everyone thinks you look stupid.
