Default Help with.... distributor?

So i ran into a new issue

first of all the problem started with my car not always starting upon turning the ignition with the key...

ill go through my daily routine

Get in the car, push the clutch in and turn the key to the "start" position........ and nothing, i get no crank, no turning over just complete silence.

SOOO. i found out that by pushing in and out the clutch 3-8 times it'll eventually start ( you can either hold the clutch in and keep turning the key OR keep the key turned and push in and out the clutch )

i got to a point where i just keep pushing in and out the clutch quickly and sometimes the car will ALMOST start but im used to it not starting so im letting out the clutch while the car is trying to start and i get this "grinding sound" now this has happened a few times and i know its not a good thing. So recently this grinding sound ive been hearing A LOT more coming from the distributor..last night while i was exiting the highway my check engine light went on and the car started bogging.

i took off the cap and found lil pieces of something? on the bottom of the cap...the gear in the dist. looks somewhat grounded on the ends. the car starts up fine still and idles fine but if i attempt to drive it it'll start bogging a lot more after 3k RPM

i dont think its the starter but i do think either the clutch switch that you push in to start the car is bad and now my distributor...anyone familiar or can shine some light on this? i want some opinions please.

Your distributor bearing has failed and is grinding itself to pieces. I would advise you not to drive it until you fix it. If you keep driving you could not only kill the dizzy completely and get stranded, or, the bearing can seize and cause the timing belt to jump a tooth, possibly even break, leaving you stranded and in a world of ****.

The bearing can be replaced, and has been by some, but from what I hear it's not easy. The part is not available from honda, nor from your local auto parts store. You can get it online.

However, like most of us you will need to buy the dizzy assembly which is basically the whole dizzy without the cap or rotor. You switch out your old cap and rotor if they're still good.

Cost me about 110 dollars from my local napa, and I did the work myself in about 30 minutes.

you need a new distributor dont drive it like that i acutally messed up a b20 motor under the same situtation.

your starter might be going out aswell mine was doing the same thing and eventually went out. i would have to try to start it a few times before it would hit a good spot on the starter before it would start.

i have a buddy that has a distributor if u need one.
