acceleration problem

acceleration problem
i have a 99 civic ex.
the problem i have is when i gas it.
it's very slow. when i enter the fwy
i have to rev it like over 4 almost 5 rpm
so that i could enter a bit fast.
it takes a while to catch its pace.
i was told it was that the gas filter that was clogged
but not surely

replace the fuel filter, run a fuel cleaner through your fuel system, see what that does. If anything, a stock single cam is pretty slow doing almost anything. I should know, i have a 99 ex myself.
