Technical Question on 97 Accord EX 5-spd
I've got 96,000 miles on a babied car. Motor is stock except for advanced ignition, K&N filter and Greddy Exhaust. The car has already had the 100,000 mile tuneup..
Regular maintenance is always done on time..
My problem:
Car surges at part throttle during acceleration mostly under 4500 rpm.
(Overall it feels like it's 20 HP under stock 145)
In my haynes manual it says that it could be fuel pump. My mechanic said he's never seen an intermittent fuel pump, that it either works or doesn't. So I'm at a loss of what to look for or troubleshoot.....
Please help! The car just started doing it and it really sucks.
Thanks in advance.

well consider other parts of your fuel system? clogged filter maybe?
your mechanic is smoking something....can i have some?
When fuel pumps go out they can have intermittent pressure drops...that happened to my 86 sable it would go along and then start to die then pick back up, it did that for about 10Kmiles before I had complete fuel pump failure....

So... let's say that MAY be it... how can I narrow it down to being the fuel pump ?
also.. are they electric or mechanical ?
