New Axle doesn't fit in Hub
car is a 91 DX with a D15B engine/trans.
i just got new axles from advance auto parts because both my axles were gone.
the drivers side worked fine, but on the passenger side, the axle fits in the transmission, but it too small for the hub. you can just twist the axle and it doesn't grab the teeth inside the hub bearing. the old axle fit in it just fine.
there's obviously something wrong. why would the drivers side work, but not the passenger side? do i have two different hubs?
the axles are for a 1991 Civic Si.
i guess i need to get a new pass. side hub... are DX hubs the same as SI?

sounds to me like they gave you the wrong passenger side axle - the DX/Si axles are as large as they get on the hub end - if the axle is too small for the hub, it has to be the wrong axle, as there are no axles that are larger
well i thought that might be the problem, so i already returned one axle and they gave me another Si axle and that one doesn't fit either.
maybe the hub splines are stripped or something. guess i'll just get a new DX/SI hub and see if the axle fits in there.

there's the problem right there. just counted 23 splines.
i double checked the part number too and it was the one for a 91 Si.
crazy that they gave me the wrong axle twice in a row.
guess i'll go return this to Advanced and pick up the right axle for my car.
thanks for the quick help.

probably gave you the wrong axle. if its smaller then its probably a std axle. i have had that happen before, take it back and visualy check the size. make sure the one you get is bigger than the one you have. when i bought axles from napa they had the same part # but one was for a std hub.

yeah that's exactly what happened. just got my money back and i'm going to a local parts store for the axle.
DX axles are the exact same as Si axles, correct?
