d series clutch questions
i thought all d series clutches were the same besides the 88-91 dx models..cause i have a crx with sohc zc and i just bought a flywheel for a dual cam zc and i was planning on puting it on my crx but when i look up clutches it says 88-89 are diferent from 90-91 and are also different from the 92-00...what makes them different?

ok so when i get the flywheel should i measure it and the buy a clutch for that year... or does the clutch not matter...cause i had a clutch on lifetime warranty through autozone and my friend had a 91 and it worked fine in his crx
The clutch needs to match the flywheel, otherwise it won't bolt on.
So you either need an 88-89 clutch & flywheel (Only 88 if the transmission is an 88)
Or 90-91 clutch with a 90-00 flywheel
Measure the flywheel and figure out which clutch you need.

also a a 90 to 2000 flywheel is the same im runing a 96 civic flywheel on my 91 motori also had the clutch and press plate as well worked cazy stiff
grabed well almost felt like a stage2 exedy and it was a stock exedy

Why are you confused? Either switch the flywheel to a 90-91 (212mm) or swap the clutch to a 89 (Can't use an 88 because of the 21 spline count on the transmission, 89-00 have 20 splines).

you need to measure the diameter of the contact area on the flywheel. and the 88's have a 190mm flywheel.. not 200 as quoted above..
here is the breakdown..
88 has 190mm flywheel and 21 spline input shaft trans
89 has 200mm flywheel and 20 spline input shaft trans
90-2000 d-series has 212mm flywheel and 20 spline input shaft trans
if you have a 20 spline transmission, you should just make your life easy and buy all 90+ parts, flywheel, clutch etc. the only thing different on the 92+ is they are hydro rather than cable. the clutch is exactly the same otherwise.

the pressure plate has some pin reliefs that fit the flywheel, which you then align to get everything to fit together. also, make sure the clutch disk is facing the right direction, otherwise you might have some trouble.
