for a while i was just running an intake and catback on my 998 gsr... couple days ago i finally got my full exhaust on including the hytech big tube replica header with a magnaflow highflow cat. I just find it weird now that my car pulls really hard at 4400-4500 rpm when vtec kicks in. I know your not suppose to notice anythign when vtec kicks in but i notice a really hard kick and i can hear it loud now ever since the header/highflow cat and the kick that happens at 5750 when the butterflies open is gone or i cant feel it anymore.... is this normal? and can canyone explain why?

oh really? hmm.... anyway, you probably don't notice it anymore because you are so used to it now? that would be my only idea. does the car seem to still run the same, as far as performance goes? i know that when i had my first civic, i put on cai, and a muffler and it pulled real hard, or at least i thought it did, know what i mean, and then about a month later it was a turd again.

 

well i mean i tested it to see before i got my header/highflow cat on and it pulled really hard when the butterflies opened...and i never really felt anything when vtec kicked in. now i notice a very HARD kick at vtec but the kick at the butterflies is gone... im pretty sure its not that im used to it.. i always felt the kick when the butterflies opened.. but yea my car does run fine.. feels stronger if anything. i feel a difference at midrange

 

its surprising how much power a stock cat holds back

 

i have the same mods i/h/e and highflow cat and my secondary butterflies is just a little been louder than vtec x-over but my previous gsr had cai and custom catback and the butterflies were only noticeable. but wen i didn't have a resonator on the catback the vtec x-over was loud and the butterflies not so much.

 

i only have intake on my gsr and all it did was make vtec louder and throttle response is a lot quicker. I want a catback and header once i can afford.
