ive got a quickl question for yal welding guru's, what type of wire is available for a flux core welder? non-gas sheilded

 

The only kinda available. It is called cored wire or something like that, I have a little spool at the shop. Never used it, never bought it so I don't know the trade name. Unless you are welding outside in really windy conditions, I would by the gas regulator and a bottle of gas. It will be mo' betta' in the end. In fact flux core wire is more expensive than the gas wire.

yea, i thought the welder i bought awhile ago what flux and gas, but i was wrong.

 

Sell it on Craigslist and get what you want.

 

I believe flux core wire is available in .028, .030, and .035". It's hard to find the smaller wire- which uses less heat

and what type of metals can be welded, just mild steel?

pretty much.

I've welded stainless- but you have to be careful. Flux core runs very hot and can burn through very easily.
