Buying a turbo GSR? how much would you pay?
Hello, theres this fully built original gsr 99, 5spd about 61k on the clock , 2k on motor, car sounds good, no leaks there was a squeaky noise when engaging clutch but not always, it has a 6 puck clutch, price he asking is 9k is that a good offer?,
built at clm racing, by fernando cuna, .50 trim t3/t4 turbo, tuned to about 16lbs, 440cc, dyno sheet 315 whp? , cf hood, lowered, some type r stuff , i didnt do leakdown, or compression test, what you guys think?, what should i look into? thank you
Get receipts for everything important. Call CLM Racing and confirm everything. Ask to speak with the builder and tuner personally. Do a compression and leak down test.
do the above and find out what was done to reinforce the block. 315whp isn't going to live very long on a stockish bottom end. well it might if someone were kind with it but i really doubt that is the case if it has 315whp

he said it was built with low comp forged pistons, rods, etc.. less than a year ago,(no/ac) im going to find out with CLM whats the deal, + comp test, if everything turns out right , what will be a fair price?
find out why exactly he wants to sell it and make SURE you do a leak down test. it might be a good deal at $9k if everything is proper. the deal sours if he's selling it because the car started burning a lot of oil and something went wrong from his 300whp on a stock block. i actually talked to a really high end engine builder the other day who won't even build anyone a turbo honda without darton sleeves or a dart block. his gripe was that the cylinders will walk no matter what you do when you start moving the pressure north.

Different strokes for different folks. The engine builder being that specific about a block...
Though I do agree with engine builder to an extent about the sleeves. I had my block close-deck sleeved by AEBS. When it was fully done, I was running just shy of 35psi through it. It just seems silly to me to boost an engine that isn't bullet proof, if this is the case with the OP and the potential car.
