Default Where to get a Rebuild around Southern NJ ?

Well, I think its about time for a complete rebuild. I bought the car to have fun, so the engine has been used and abused.
I have 180k miles on it. The engine is leaking oil.
Cyl 1 and 3 do not hold any pressure when doing a leakdown test. They do still get #'s in the compressions tes, so its still driveable.
The car no longer wants holds an idle and I'm getting random misfiring at low RPMS.

I either want to pop in a newly rebuilt B18C5 (where to find one ?)
Or completely rebuild the engine..

One problem is that I want to bring the car to someone I can trust.
So that either leaves me getting raped at the dealer or going to someone that you guys would recommend.

Can anyone recommend a shop to do my rebuild around South Jersey ? I'm willing to drive around 80 miles.

ITR, Jersey, and Rebuild all in the same sentence scare me. Can you pull the motor yourself and haul it to a shop? Theft is Jersey is horrible.

As for your question, i have no clue what direction to point you. Sorry i couldn't be of more assistance, but i wanted to make sure you were aware of the horrible theft issues that exist in Jersey.

I suppose I can do the work and pull the motor out myself. If theft is such an issue. I just didn't feel like pulling it out myself.
I'd have to buy a cheap cherry picker from Harbor Frieght, but i don't know how I'd transport it. My other car is a 93 Integra :-P

It'd be nice if someone could come over and help me pull it out. I'll give out beer !

I don't know anyone with a pickup truck either.

Due to your area, I agree with Jon. Pull the motor isn't terrible and I'm sure others you know/trust will lend you a hand. PM user "Aquafina", his shop is an Expo sponsor and he can do the bottom end or head work for you. He is a RM dealer if you need head parts, plenty of options all around. He may be willing to drive to pickup the head/bottom end/both.

I just happen to be familiar with these guys. Know a good friend who had a lot of work done there. I have met the owners Josh and Dan, very stand up guys . I would just contact them about the theft issue and any specific concerns you have. To my knowledge the other ITR owner who had work done there always had his car put inside at the end of the day.

Awesome. It looks like that 1st State MotorSports is the closest to me. I think that's what some honda guy at autoparts was telling me to go. So its good that I'm hearing good things about them from you.

If you wanted to bring your car to me i could get everything done for you, pull the motor send it to the machine shop and then put it together and back in. I use a shop in haledon near william patterson that does excellent work. But if you decide to have a shop near you do the work i would ask them how long they assume its gonna take and if its gonna be a week or two and you have use of a trailer get your car and bring it home after the motor is pulled and then bring it back when the motor is assembled so they can put it back in, thats what i would do.

Send me a pm if your possibly interested

I trust my dealer in NJ, but I don't want to bend over and get raped by them.
I'm open to using any shop that gets recommended by a fellow honda-tech-er.
I just would like my engine back to like new condition.

I don't have a trailer. So towing the car back and forth is not an option. I wish theft wasn't an issue with the ITRs. It'd make things a whole lot easier.

why not buy new longblock? There is a forum member selling his brand new extra dealer longblock for ~3k

You then can take yours out, rebuild it as you have time so when you hit ~400K you have a new motor to put in
