CEL 72: Misfiring cylinder 2
Symptoms: Overheating, coolant leak at overlow reservoir cap, oil burning faster than norm, CEL 72-Misfiring cylinder 2. Misfiring only occurs after a bit of driving, never at cold startup, and only at low RPM (highway driving is fine).
I'm guessing that whatever is causing the coolant leak and the overtemp is leading to early ignition, causing the misfire. However, why would only one cylinder be affected? It is possible that they are seperate problems, but my best guess is that they are linked. Now what could be the problem? Headgasket? Water pump? Radiator clog? Radiator all together? The oil and exhaust seem normal, however the exhaust pipe sprays a bit.
I'm going to do a compression test after work and will post the results. I might also replace all plugs, wire, dizzy. I might take off the head, so if I do, what specifically should I be looking for?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
