Default Thought you guys could appreciate this...

Tech first... anyone have any pointers on changing the suspension in an 89 crx?

You could say between myself and my girlfriend's family we own a lot of semi-rare hondas...

Left to right it's my gf's prelude, her brother's crx, my del sol, my crx, her dad's del sol

Haha, I get that too. But then again I only have to spend about half as much on hers and it keeps her quiet.

Nicee!! Be sure to have the pb plaster handy also be careful of the bolt that holds the rear strut/shock to the lower control arm since i've had the bolt snap right in the middle of taking it out..

The front suspension is easy to replace, the rear just a wee bit tricky if it is the stock 19 year old bolt and shock/strut.

Well I bought the white del sol becuase it had 70k original miles on it and I drive 600 miles a week. I didn't realize that I'd get such shitty gas mileage considering the red one gets 40mpg as a s model but mine only gets absolute max with all highway 30mpg.

Good luck with the suspension. 9 out 10 times the rear bolts on the struts are siezed in the bushings , if its original suspension.

The front is easy so do it last.

Very nice cars...

Well, from the pictures I see what you mean. His is actually blue too, a maaco blue whatever color that is. My car was already this color and the closest I've been able to match to it is electron blue but it's a bit off.

Well I just happened to have replaced the suspension (front and rear) on my 89 CRX Si. It was all original when I took it off. I didn't run into any problems as far as things being seized, the one problem I did have was the mounting bolts and tapped holes for the rear upper control arms. Their threads had been squashed and it was impossible to get them started. So out came the tap set (i think thats what others call it?) and 15 minutes later I was back on track.

BTW If your looking into what setup to get, I installed Koni Sport yellows and Ground Control coilovers with front rates of 440 and rear rates of 350. I couldn't be happier. I think they were one of the best investments I have made.

My 89 HF's bushings (bolts on the strut?) had seized. Ending up having to use pliers, which then fried the struts.. I'd say grab new struts.

I'm going to be running something similar, Koni yellows all the way around but gonna use eibach springs 400 front, 325 rear and the sleeves from a previous suspension setup if I have to.

Actually I never had any problems removing suspension. Just make sure you have the right tools and be patient getting the bolts out.

Pics of the girlfriend!!!

Yeah thats basicly the same setup. Ground control uses Eibach springs on their coilovers. If I could change one thing I actually would have went a little stiffer on the springs. But I guess I have a somewhat high tolerance for a rougher ride. My girlfriend does not complain about the comfort of the ride with the current rates though. .
