Vehicle 01-0834 Stolen...
My vehicle was stolen last night in San Bernardino at the AMF Bowling Alley... Michigan license plate 01R0834. Pheonix Yellow with the Type R sticker only on the passenger side and no Type R sticker on the rear. If anyone could provide me with any sort of advice, I'd highly appreciate it. Bastards also stole my wallet and cellphone which were all inside of my girlfriend's purse... The biggest problem at this point is the fact that she had her Social Security Card in her bag as well. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
another R down...this is getting really old fast. Sorry to hear the bad news. But if they have the cell phone cant they trace that? or is that just a myth.
Yea, all credit cards/debit cards were put on hold. I had my sister call the phone company and the thieves actually used my phone to make a few calls... seems they made quite a few calls to the Ontario area... probably looking for someone to strip the car. The crazy thing is, they pulled over a car this morning that had my ID along with a few other stolen items in it. However, I don't think believe it was my R...
if they made calls from the phone, they can def. trace those calls. You can trace them yourself if you find out what number they called...whitepages.com gives you name address, so on...

If they're calling from your phone and they have the number they're calling. Couldn't the police just keep track of that number and find out where the calls are coming from to track down the thieves? The thieves are basically calling the same place right? So it would make sense to keep track of who has been calling that place or person. I hope everything turns out for the better.
This is why I only drive my car once or twice a week. I'm on a bicycle most of the time...if you see a guy on a white bicycle with a white helmet waving or giving you the thumbs up, that's probably me...so don't run me over

Very sorry to hear, i sincerely wish your car is found. Having just been through this for the second time i completely understand how you feel right now with regards to the personal items that were in your car.
I now leave a lot less personal items and anything of value in my cars.
Again... i wish you the best getting your situation figured out!

fingers crossed the police can utilise the thieves stupidity of making calls on your phone and catch them, and give them a good kicking

Insurance has told me that they will have to wait 3 to 4 weeks for the car to be located before they can take any actions. They are however going to provide me with $25 a day to rent a vehicle. I am under 25 years of age and thus car rental is much more expensive and so I'm trying to figure out a way to work around this at the moment.
Just out of curiousity, does anyone know how much insurance usually offers in reference to stolen Rs... Mine had around 59,000 miles and a clear title. The car has been missing for a couple of days now and so I figure that it has already been stripped and dumped if anything. I need to start planning ahead and so any feedback would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry about the loss. That really sucks. Something I realized that always helped was having a clutch lock or The Club for the steering wheel. My GFs R has been broken into quite a few times because she lives in the downtown chicago area; but her car has never been stolen. Busted steering column but the car has always been there.
Did you happen to hear you alarm pager go off while in the bowling ally??

the police just contacted me last night to notify me that they have located my car. which was amazing news at first. however, now that the car has been found, i am running into more unexpected problems. the san bernardino police dpt don't have they're own impound and so the car had been towed to a random tow yard in san bernardino. this towing company charges $45 for every night that the car has to be kept in their yard and so i thought i would go and pay the gate fee which is $85 to retrieve my car today but first i stopped by the police dpt to get a release form. when i get there, they tell me that i need to have the person who the car is registered under to come in order for them to release the vehicle. this is where the BIG PROBLEM comes into play... both of my parents are currently in korea and they won't be back anytime soon. plus i live in michigan which makes things ever more difficult to process. i don't know how to figure this out at the moment and so i have to go in on tuesday, since monday is a holiday and try to somehow convince the traffic control directors to give me the release form... all im hoping for is that i can get everything figured out asap and that insurance will pay for all the fees that accrue due to the car being kept with the towing company...
Well, glad she was recovered. I've never been in this situation before, just have a couple thoughts. You may need your parent(the one the caR is registered to) to fly back to handle all this. Not only will you have trouble with the police releasing the car to you....insurance may only deal with the legal owner as well. Of course, if they total the caR, they become the owner and they can pick it up from the tow yard, but they may only issue a check to your parents.
If you can get a power of attorney from your parent, maybe then you can take care of the legal work yourself. Not sure if that's a possibility.
GL with everything.

i shall try everything you guys have advised me to do... from what the police have told me, the car is intact. however, im sure the thieves didn't baby the car like i do. hopefully nothing is horribly wrong with it when i get it back.
