I have a data RP digital 2. How long are you waiting between coats with clear? It sprays so much heavier that I'm waiting almost 30 minutes between coats. If I wait the recomended 15 minutes between coats it seems more like the RP stands for run producer. I love the gun and it lays clear like glass. And damn does it have a lot of overspray. Seems to waist a lot of clear. I only clear with it cause I like the way my cheap *** Chicago phnimatic (spelling) guy bases better.
Also what are people running for PSI? I run between 15-20 depending what catalyst I'm using. I never sprayed a RP till I got it so not a ton of expirence with them. I'm a garage painter.
Sorry I'm sending this from my phone and pretty buzzed on fumes cause I just sprayed a friend car.

Go by the directions in the P sheets for the products you are using. The flash times are listed in the p sheets, or on the container. Your gun is obviously not set up right, or your application of clear is wrong if you are getting alot of runs. What size tip are you using in the gun? Do you have a hose with a large enough diameter and fittings for a HVLP gun on your compressor? Adjust your air pressure and your fan adjustment/ fluid adjustment and you can cut alot of that overspray down.
BTW, typically you should be laying MEDIUM wet coats of clear. Unless your product says otherwise.

I heard that to. Tried a buddy's one, so I opted for Iwata's base and clear
gun. I think the clearcoat gun was the LPH-400 with a huge cup. Been
laying clear down flawless after that.
cheers

You're pressure is way to low. Turn your fluid down a little and overlap more to achieve the same look, it's a lot easier to control application that way. I was spraying at about 37 psi shooting spies HS. The only way to find your sweet spot is to practice on a scratch piece with around 40 psi and work your way down until you find what works. Anything more than 40 IMO is just too much pressure causing too much rebound = wasted paint.
