Default Is this a good deal?

I am looking at buying a friends 93' civic sedan. It has 166k and no body damage. It jumped time last week and he told me he'd sell it for $500. Civics are selling for $3000 with this kinda mileage around here, I guess the high gas prices are making them worth more. I have heard I can do the timing belt, tensioner and water pump for $150. I also know that it my need a head or valve job if it doesn't run well after the timing belt swap. Just curious if ya'll think I should mess with it or leave it alone?

well you could get a whole new motor for like 600 if you end up needing one.

For 500 bucks I'd jump on it. A new D15b7 will cost NOTHING.
