WHICH ECU DO I USE??
99' GSR 77,000 MILES AEM V2 CAI, SKUNK2 IM, DC 4-1 HEADERS, APEXI WS2 CATBACK EXHAUST, WHICH ECU SHOULD I USE? THE P73 OR P28 ( BY THE WAY WHICH VEHICLE DID A P28 COME OFF OF?) AND WHERE WOULD I GET THE ECU FROM AND WUT PRICE SHOULD I PAY?
so go get that ecu? how much should i pay for it? and will it plug in directly after i buy the ob2 to ob1 wire harness?? plug in right and no problems or do i still need to tune it?
the p28 will need to be tuned and you will need the harness. in other words it's going to cost green. the p73 is a direct plug in to your 99 and will also work, the only drawback is you are limited with expansion plans. you need to address your goal with the car and what you want to spend in order to answer that question. the going rate for a 98-99 p73 is $150-200. p28's run $125-200 plus the hondata plus the harness and tuning. it's not hard to drop $500-700 on the setup.
Dude just call Phearable, they will sell you a p28 ecu with a integra basemap plus some extra tweaks for $175 and $75 for the odb2 to odb1 harness.
Plus you know you are getting a tested ecu. And it will be setup so if you want to add a hondata in the future it a plug and play deal.

Extra tweaks:
2 step (launch control)
Vtec speed limit removed
Speed governor removed
4 pin datalogging header

yeah , I am about to get them to hook me up.. I am putting a Skunk2 intake manifold on soon and need to get the ecu strait soI don't bog when the butterflys are supposed to open.
your other problem is it will run rich in the low rpms due to the difference in air speed between the two if use the stock p72 map. the only thing i didn't like about that site was the fact they spoke of disabling the knock sensor like it was a good thing. knock sensors are great inventions, i sure wouldn't want to disable one.
to the best of my knowledge the obd2a p72 isn't easily chipable. if i remember right the obd1s are. in your case the p28 combo will work. the only drop in ecu for your car is a 98-99 type r ecu.
also, on the knock sensor issue. the majority of detonation from bad gas or other issues happens under 3,000 rpms. going lean at 8,000 is a whole 'nother story.

He could get a P72 out of a 94-95 GSR and it is ODB1
If you get a Hondata s300 then you would still be required to use a ODB1 ecu (and harness) and have them put you a integra basemap on it for you, but even still you will probably want to at least get a street tune done on it.

i'll soon know once i get the motor back from the machine shop and have a chance to run it. my whole goal was to squeeze as much HP as i could without killing the MPG. my wild *** guess is low 14s but i'll have to run it in order to find out. someone could easily get 15 or so more hp than i am if they went with more aggressive cams and more aggressive tune. all for not that much more money. the only drawback is MPG drops. i already have a vette that runs low 12's and just rips on the roadcourse. ride height adjustable konis, all poly bushings etc. i'd be happy with anything under a 14.5 with my teg. if it's a little faster than a stock type r i'm happy.
the only wildcard a guy could play that might be a little smarter than my build would be to use the crower stage 2 cam with the mild primary lobe and bigger secondary. then use some hondata capible ecu and spend some time on the dyno. you could probably make 10 or so more hp and still have great MPG if you stay out of vtec
