damnit wanted a rsx type-r
Well today I went to the Acura dealer. I ask them if the RSX type-r would come to the states anytime soon? They told me that possibly around 2004-05. I was very disappointed because people were telling me that it would arrive next year...But i guess not. Oh well.. i guess ill get an integra type-r
the dealers seem to know nothing...one told me 2003, another said 2005 , and one said it was highly doubtful....i dont think its coming...but keep hoping...ya never know i guess

Well, last night a co-worker of mine who has a close friend who works for Honda in Marysville, OH let him drive his RS-XType S for a couple of hours. He stated that his buddy [who works for Honda] told him that the Type R was coming next year... My buddy is not an import guy, but was enthused about the power and responsiveness as well as the Sound Quality of the Type S. He'll pick up his buddy's car in 1.5 yrs for... $9,000.
Who cares. Even if it does come here it wil be certainly watered down. And the DC5-R isnt much ahead of the DC5-S as it is. The gap is much less than it was with the GSR/ITR

Well if your depending on the dealers to know when the car will come out, dont count on it. The dealers dont know till like 2-3 months before they come out. Trust me, before the type S was even sold I went to the dealer enquiring about one. The dealer just looked at me funny, and asked how I knew about the car. My reply was.. internet and magazines..I mean come on, super street had just done a article about it and the dealers knew nothing about it..
I wouldnt count on the type R coming till the end of 2003 begining of 2004. And thats a big maybe because Honda will not release another rsx when the type S is doing good in sells.Honda will wait till the demand of the type S starts to drop then bring the type R to raise sells back up. Its all business to honda, they dont care if people want the type R now, they will wait till they absolutely need to, to bring it over.
If you want just do what I am doing, Im adding parts from a type R, dont ask what, but its mainly performance parts to my type S. And eventually im going to turbo my baby. hehe.. Well good luck...

Some of you guys crack me the Hell up. Tell me how "watered down" the car will be. Please be specific....
And where do you get your information on how much the perceived gap will be with this car. How fast does the Type S lap Honda's test track? How about the DC2R? We have been told - at least in print - that the ITR is, what, three seconds clear of the GS-R... We've also been told - in print again - that the DC5R is supposed to be "several seconds quicker than the DC2R around the same track. But I've not read anything about how quick the RS-X is.
Why not ask the same question in a few months with the differences between the suspension/wheels/tires/brakes of the "action pkg" and the Type S. Better yet, we'll see next year autocrossing. You'll live to eat those words, mate.

yeah i told myself that if they bring out a Type R that I am going to buy it! this has not yet happened. I see an RSX-S and a Civic Si... no R. As of now, my sites are set on a WRX, however, I may just get a Civic Si cuz its about $5k cheaper and gets better gas mileage (also runs on 87 octane) and since either car will be a daily driver and with the increase in the rice population, I doubt I will need anything too fast. (my slow automatic eats rice all the time

"well lets take for instance the Dc2-R ....and the pattern of Acura marketing ...what do they don't give us that the the rest of the world seems to get.....we don't get JDM front end..of course , we dont get the recaro's ....the JDM market does ...as does ADM , and CDM ....JDM seems to get the higher output motor...as of now ADM gets the recaros , but non-type R wheels, and non ITR output motor...ye swe will get a watered down one if we do...it wont have the ITR power...wont have the recaro's ...wont have the brembro's of course...."
1) I don't give a rat's left nut for the JDM front end. It looks like every other previous Honda/Acura that has been released in the US.
2) The Recaros are too narrow at the hips for even average sized individuals. In Australia people get them widened so that they don't get numb while driving the car. Yes, I'd like to have a wider set, but they would be unique and therefore very costly. Not sure if the European seats are wider... should be. If that's the case I FULLY AGREE with you.
3) We don't have 98 octane fuel. Period. Not Honda's fault. I have an article from Australia describing why they get the 200 bhp engine and not the 217 bhp one... it's the fuel. Or the Octane rating of the fuel to be more specific.
4) As for "decontenting" is concerned one must understand the financial situation of Australia. Their currency is worth a bit over 50% of the US dollar [before the marked plunge this year...
]. How much content can you add and keep the price competitive? There comes a point in which the car becomes perceived as overpriced. The RS-X is fast approaching this limit. Look at the "Action Pkg" costs - $5k. Yes, it would be less expensive if the car left Japan with those options, but it still isn't chump change.
5) As for the Brembo's are concerned, I'd like to have them for Ego reasons. Do they stop any better than "no-named" brakes? Probably not. Especially if the "no named" brakes are properly designed and matched to the mass, speed and potential use of the vehicle in question.
I don't have a problem with my '00 ITR- except that I had to purchase the JDM wheel
despite all of the whingers whinging.
If the DC5R had proper steering feel I'd be onboard. No question. If we get a 215 bhp version of the car I'll definitely test drive it with intent to purchase/lease it. But since I have friends in Marysville, I'll more than likely get one from them after they've abused it for 2 years.

Like I said if it does come, it wont be for a loooooooong time. So for know I think I will just hook up my S and be prepared for the type R when it comes out. hehe
From what I have heard and searched for it's not going to be here till 2oo5. If you thing bout it the integra(dc2 body style) came out in 1994 and we got the type R in 97, so thats 3 years. If you think about it the RSX came out in 2oo2 and if Honda is going to do the same again then your looking at 2oo5.

I still want a R, My dream is to have a championship white DC2R and a DC5R in my drive way.. aaahhhh..:::drools::
Yeah the championship white is the best. Thats why I got my RSX-S in pearl white. Its almost close. If only the pearl was gone and it was brighter. hehe
wow it's funny that you guys still think this car is coming over hahaha. i work at honda and as of july 02 there is no plans to bring a dc5 anywhere near the us of a.

Well like I said, for the most part the dealers dont know **** about when the car is about to come out until 3-4 months before it actually hits the show room. So if you havent heard anything about it, then I guess its not coming in 3-4 months huh.
Well bro, only time will tell.. All we can do is wait and see... But I doubt I will be arguing about this for 3-4 years.. I got an idea.. In 3-4 years you tell me if the car is coming out and I will ignore you.. sound good? haha jk
