New member, need AC Help. 2001 accord.
Hi All,
My name is Dan, from Dallas. Looks like this place is going to be a good resource for me for a long time, just found it on google today. I own an Acura Integra and my Fiance owns a Honda Accord V6, 2001.
I am having a few problems figuring out why the Accord's AC is not working correctly. I am a customer service rep for a large garage door opener company, and a computer science geek so I understand troubleshooting and narrowing down. I'll explain what I and my future father in law have done.
The fan will only come on if I have it turned all the way up. The compressor doesn't kick on unless I jump the low pressure switch to the ground on the vehicle. (Just attach it to a screw). We got some freon and put it in, and now when the low pressure switch is jumped, and the fan is turned all the way up, the compressor comes on and blows cold air.
Now, just need to figure out why the "Auto" feature doesn't work. I was reading on here, someone having the same problem, said it was a resister that would only allow the fan to blow on HI. Thing I need to know is, why do I have to ground the low pressure switch? When I put the switch back together, the compressor doesn't come on.
Any ideas of what to try next? I'd like to finish this myself and not have to pay a ton for someone else to do it.
Thanks!

Ok, well I guess nobody here knows anything about AC units, or at least I'm new and new guys don't get help around here.. but for kicks I'm going to add...
Replaced the low pressure switch today and that didn't change anything. The compressor runs fine, just seems like the computer isn't telling it to come on unless we have the switch grounded. If I can get some pictures of what I'm talking about I'll post them later.
Does anybody know a forum where there are AC gurus? That would maybe help me more.
