My 91 Honda Accord was totalled. Is the insurance company offering a good price?
Hi,
I was in an accident this week which was caused by the person who hit me. MY car was totaled, because the cost of repair exceeded the value of the car.
The car is:
-91 Honda Accord DX Sedan
-159000 miles
-power steering, power breaks
-needs new windshield
-fair/good condition
The insurance company offered me 2,300 for it. Do you think I should accept this price?
I was told I could search around and try to find proof that the car is worth more, if I could.
I did a search on Kelly blue book and found that the Private Party Value, if in Excellent condition, with that many miles, is around 2,000.
I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks!

I know if you are happy with your car, the insurance payoff will never be enough.
That doesn't mean you will get more. The problem will be finding a replacement for that amount, which will be almost impossible.
Good luck though.

There must be a regional difference on car values (I think), because from what I have seen, the Honda Accords with that many miles are worth more. I've seen several ads with 91 Accords with more than 160k miles for sale for more around 3,000.
Can I bring these ads as some sort of proof to the agency that they are not covering the cost for an equal value replacement vehicle?

look around at some dealer..find a few for sale at 3000 and have them call the dealer to verify!
tell them thats what there going for everywhere and 2300 is not enough to replace it!
I dont know.....I would try that or something like that.....
