cost of chaning input shaft bearing
Hey guys, looking to buy this car, but supposedly it makes a sound when your driving and goes away when you push the clutch. Was told its probably the shaft bearing in the tranny. I live in an apartment complex so even If I wanted to try this I wouldn't be able to, im looking into having the owner fix it before I buy it, and wondering how much would a shop charge to change that? I know its alot of work, taking apart the tranny and such. How much is labor usually for changing this part?
Its a eg hatch with the stock 1.5 non vtec, 130k miles. Thanks!

i've heard its not that hard. time consuming im sure. but its a common problemo for civic transmissions. especially if they have been beaten on at all.
sorry i dont know the cost to change the bearing, i just went out and got a dif trans for 300$ but you gotta be careful and inspect the input shaft and make sure its not loose or wiggles or anything or else you will end up with the same problem again (it happend to me)

If you take the tranny out and bring it some where I'd guess 300.00.
If the shop removes and installs I'd guess more toward 600.00
You also need to figure out if it's time for a clutch kit while your in there.
Turn the fly wheel...
You also need to ask your self, do I have all the tools...

if those numbers are accurate at all i'd be looking for a new trans... those d15b7 trans have shitty gearing. if it was me i'd be looking for a clean ex/si trans
and for the tools, its not that many... as long as you have a decent set of ratchets you should be fine. of course air tools would make life easier but it can be done with out them. oh come to think of it the only tool that people don't normally have would be a 32 mil axle socket. you can buy them at part stores, that with a nice ratchet and a persuasion (breaker) bar works just fine.

Just get a new transmission and install that, especially since you only have a CX or DX. The input shaft bearing itself is small and cheap, but to get to it you have to disassemble a large portion of the transmission, which is a ton of labor. It'll probably be easier and cheaper to get a decent used transmission.
