Turbo S2K shutting off????
we built and turbo'ed a 2000 S2K and randomly when driving it simply shuts off and will not restart for 15+ minutes.
it has a lovefab turbo kit, AEM EMS and MSD 3bar map.
anyone have suggestions. car hasn't arrived yet so looking to get a jump start of diagnosing it.

Upgrade to K-Pro, or if you're a baller Motec, and that will eliminate that problem. AEM EMS units are junk.
are you running the 1052, 1052U or the older 1012?

That's a pretty bold statement when PLENTY of FI S2k's are using it without any problems.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Ok, maybe the term "junk" was a little extreme...but I have heard MORE problems from them than any other EMS, easily. Maybe their quality control just flat out sucks.

No the A/c compensation might be off causing a low rpm then shutoff. Make sure u have a good batt too. A low voltage EMS does not work so well. When the A/C comp kicks on the load changes causing a drop in power and rpm. the sudden change could be enofth to shut her down if not properly tuned to compensate it.
Has this happen before? When does it happen? Engine hot or cold? stoped or running?

happened once while customer was driving. he went accell up a hill and it died.
its not the AC comp. car has been running for over a year with the EMS.
its not a HG. block is MID sleeved and oringed with ARP headstuds running low boost (18psi).
i just spoke to the owner and also said after running it pretty hard, he came to a stop and it revved up and down. said this happened only twice and its not repeatable. this may be due to the new aftermarket radiator just being put in. maybe has an air bubble still lingering???

If the idle is surging i'd check the vacumm lines. One of my lines had a crack in it and it didn't surge unless the hose got really hot and expanded to open the hole. Just one suggestion.
Other than that, it may be due to the tuning.
If you think it's the EMS, send it to AEM so they can inspect and repair.

I guess I have always wanted to put a hacked up RSX ECU in my S2000 and take my head off and change some sensors when I could of got the an AEM EMS for cheaper along had more tunning options. AKA! K pro is nice but a pain in the *** to put in!

Air in the cooling system or low coolant will cause a surging idle and bogging. It may not be the problem with this car but I have this problem with Hondas before after replacing coolant.

this isn't a pissing contest between AEM and Kpro. there both very nice and have there issues, but this car has AEM and its not going to change. the car has been running high 400's at the wheels as a daily driver for a year now so the tune is fine.
this only happened once and we can't get it to repeat.
i hate when problems only happen when the customer is driving the car.

Some times you just gotta wait till the problem gets worse
I have a buddy a 550WHP Integra and His MSD blaster gets to hot under normal driving conditions and once he turns the car off it wont start untill tthe MSD cools down. He sprays the MSD with that air in a can stuff to cool it down faster... I doubt this is the problem but you never know. Was it really hot out that day? driving it hard? sitting at a stop for a long time?
