Broke block, still good?
I got a d16z6 block i plan for a small vitara turbo build, but i half one small problem. the block was broke when being removed, actually, i broke it getting impatient on the removal. its the area where the long starter bolt goes thru. here is what im talkin about....

what really sucks is tht the motor was rebuilt with all new internals about 4k miles ago. im talkin everythig, new water pump, oil pump, oil pan, rebuilt head an all. let me know what you guys think.
o, an yes i knowed it needs to be cleaned up a lil. ill do tht once i figure out if the block can be saved.

sorry bro i think that block is done. what might save u is if u had that peice that broke. take it to a shopt that knows how to TIG weld aluminum and have them weld it back on and rethread the bolt hole. that long starter bolt also functions as a tranny bolt as well
yea i had tht peice for the longest time but after packing it up an moving into my apartment i seem to of lost it. its in the house but i cant seem to find it. if i do find it, can i have it welded back on an be safe(ish)? i only planned on 7 psi

damn tht sucks, it just got rebuilt an i got impatient with the removal an forgot tht one perticulkar bolt. o well, looks like im in the market for a d 16 bare block. appreciate the info fellas.
block looks fine to me.
that part has no stress or any roll in how the engine works and performs.
find the peice and have the shop weld it up to prevent water dirt entering.
if u cant find the peice then have them weld it up with scrap.
i dont see that making your block junk, still good.

your block is fine none of the bolt holes are damaged you just now have an extra breather for your clutch
. really I wouldnt worry about it, if you are worried about something falling into the clutch area use a piece of duct tape over it

you can get it welded it you still have the piece that broke off , BUT i suggest you get a new one , besides d series blocks are a dime a dozen hell i have two(no you can't have one) go to a local junkyard and look for a 92-95 civic ex or 93-95

I'd just buy a used block, get new bearings and transfer all the parts over. It looks safe enough to rick (I've seen worse) but it your planning on keeping it for a while I'd just invest the money now.
