Concerned Si Owner
I'm a bit concerned about my gas mileage after reading some of the mileage I see posted on other threads.
I always fill up when there's just one bar left and it usually takes 11.5 gallons. Thing is I have 330 miles on my trip odometer. Now its highway and city, but mostly city. I use 6th gear a lot, shift often, and drive with a feather foot with the exception of a handful of times every fill-up.
A few things occurred to me. The car is running extremely lean, which its not.
The speedometer is off, which its not.
Even the EPA estimates are lower than what I'm getting. I have an Injen CAI and stock Michelin tires. Is anyone else getting 30 MPG all around in an Si? One guy said he was getting like 21 MPG, and I am just a little concerned as to why some of these guys are only getting 240 miles to a full tank.

When I had my 06 si I would average about 230-250 miles a tank of gas. Thats what I really hated about the car, I figured it would do better if i babied it around town and it didn't make a noticeable difference in mileage. A guy I work with that has one was getting horrible mileage, it ended up being his injector o-ring on cylinder 3?
I get about 22-24mpg most of the time. 10% ethanol blended gas that most gas stations sell will actually decrease your fuel mileage a little bit, something else to consider. Also the EPA estimate is using a different calculation than it used to.

I've been getting ~22-23 doing mostly city driving. On my recent trip to NC I averaged 35 on the highway, thats in cruise under 75, no AC, gradual acceleration. On my trip back though, after installing a Fujita SRI i averaged over 39mpg under the same conditions. Im still on my first tank of city driving since the SRI install so I'll see how my city mileage is affected.

I've been getting right around 30 in my Si too, but I drive more highway than city. I shift anywhere from 3 to 5K with the occasional V-tec and have a Scanguage. I don't think 30 is bad at all, especially if you drive more city. What were you expecting to get anyway?

Well don't you find it a little odd that I'm getting 100 miles more to a tank than anyone else. I mean, there's a lot of highway, but still. Oh well, its under warranty so whatever. Just wanted to know why it was so much higher than average.

lately i had been driving a little wild.. always wanna hear the v-tech kick and the intakes whistle.. haha i'm starting to be concern about my miles to.. i used my car for my work where i get paid for the miles i drive... i'd started to drive smoothly and haven't notice any difference on my mpg... don't mean to bump the topic.. is the scangauge really helpful does it save you gas? how does it work.. just finding alternative ways to save gas..

And just so you know.....i'm getting between 290-310 miles a tank.....and that's WITH the race header and 50/50 split between city and highway.
Somehow what you're saying doesn't make sense. How exactly do you get into 6th gear during CITY driving?? 6th gear isn't supposed to be accessed until the car is going 49mph or above.....usually faster than traditional city speed limits.
And shifting alot doesn't exactly help your gas mileage. Constant fluctuations in speed will actually reduce your gas mileage.

This post is like an exact duplicate of my experience. I definitely don't baby my car, and I get 300+ miles every tank, whether highway or not. I also, only use Shell Vpower.
* I cringe when I see people with Corvettes, M3s, SIs, etc (cars that should be running only premium gasoline) filling up at Raceway. It sort of defeats the purpose. *

i get about 270-300. sometimes more than 300 if i baby it. many factors play into gas mileage. note what the paper says. mileage may vary on driving conditions and driving habits.
cuz im at 2300 ft above sea level and like 40% humidity in the mojave desert

I'm in the process of buying an 07 right now, I hope to get an average of 300 miles per tank. My accord spoiled me with it's mileage. I once went 46 days all city driving before tanking up with an average of like 7 miles driving a day. On long road trips it used to just barely eek out 500 miles on a tank. Making it from New Orleans to Houston, driving around the city one night, then next day drive back home and not yet on E was really nice.

Actually, the gas at Shell and Raceway is pretty much the same stuff.....it all came from the exact same refineries. It doesn't really make a difference which place you fill up. The only difference from station to station is the additives that the refineries put in the fuel at the request of the different gas companies.
What you really need to take into consideration when filling up is the upkeep of the station. If it is a run down place, then they probably haven't taken care of the underground tanks, fuel lines, or pumps. You could be putting all kinds of junk in your fuel tank. As long as everything at the station is maintained well, it doesn't really matter who's gas you are using.

The additive at Raceway is water. I've seen it in several people's cars at different stations. It's crap.

They don't offer 91 in my area. Just 87, 89, 93, and 94. I have run 93 since I bought the car 2500 miles ago. Not meaning to sound cheap, but 89 is $.20 cheaper. Which is $2.00 a fill up...which is $16 a month...which is $192 a year...just saying...anything wrong with 89?
the most accurate way to compute fuel economy is to record odometer readigs and gallons pumped at time of filling.
Like this
12435 12.1 gallons
12650 11.5 gallons
12952 12.2 gallons
13210 7.5 gallons
then doing the math
Going by the trip is inaccurate and highly rejected.
