I have a bar'd jdm B18c in my eh3 and it sounds as if my valves are tapping... so i adjusted all the valves and it helped a little bit but its still apparent and I'm not sure what i should try next. anyone had this problem before? and help would be very much appreciated.

bump for having similar issues. is it only noticeable at certain rpms?

 

i can only hear it from idle to like 3500 rpm because the motor gets too loud so i cant hear much else.

 

lol thats exactly what i was asking.

 

im sure id be able to still hear them if my engine wasnt so loud. my CAI make it hella deep at 3500. but im sure i'd still be able to hear it.

I dunno much but ill offer my experience I had a sohc vtec d16z6 and it was tpping inside the engine and louder when you reved it...it sounded like a sticky valve or maybe bent valve but it turned out being the #4 piston hitting the head soo hopefully u aint got that problem but good news I got a good excuse to swap in a b18c1 yay!

run a compression check....

 

Yea, get a compression test before anything. im going through the same process....dont know what it is and will be doing compression test as soon as i get the necessary tools.

 

could be your LMA's going bad as well.... (lost motion assemblies)

they make a tapping sound, but it's a little bit different than valve-adjustment-needed tapping
