i wentt to napa today to purchase all the parts needed for the swap and i ran into a problem. the hasport site says to use a timing belt and water pump from a 94 delsol vtec.

but heres the problem, there are 2 of them, a 1590cc and 1595cc del sol, and there is a big difference in the two.

the timing belt for the 1590cc motor is 39 inches long and has 104 teeth, the 1595 motor is 46.5 inches long and has 124 teeth, not to mention the water pumps are different

waterpump/ 1590cc -559250 1595cc -559321

which do i use? also what spark plugs run good on the b16, will any b16 plugs work?

 

you go to a honda dealer and get the pr3 timing belt and water pump from the dohc vtec del sol or a 99-00 si. the p28 or sohc one must be the shorter of the two i guess.

 

anyone else? anyone that has done this swap?

 

Just get the del sol dohc/ GSR timing belt....

Oops, my bad you need the b16a/Pr3 timing belt... cause you got the del sol dohc... The Gsr T-belt is longer..

Get the longer one. Tell them you have a b16a, that should help clarify things.

 

they made two vtec engines for the del sol 1. sohc 2. dohc, you need the dohc timing belt and water pump. some times you have to try explaining that to the parts guy behind the counter cause they dont have a clue. but if you go to honda it is often the same case, you need the pr3 not the p28. i would spend the little extra money and get the honda parts.

Timing Belt 14400-PR3-004 94 - del sol $48.72

Maybe call them and ask how long it is? I would spend the extra 10 bucks and get the Honda one.
