Swap out base stereo in RSX '05 prem. w/ the 6 CD version - what years are compatible?
Am hoping to find the answer here. I'd like to pick up a 6 CD Bose stereo from a Type S and put it into my 2005 RSX premium (which only has the base model 1 disc deck). The decks and space for the deck looks exactly same from 2002 - 2006 but I'm mostly seeing 2002 - 2004 decks being advertised (rather than 2005 -2006's). I'm worried that if I pick one up from the '02 to '04 model years that it won't be compatible. Does anyone know if it's possible to do? As well, I've a Canadian model and I'm thinking of picking on up on ebay from the States. I can't imagine that they are different between the countries but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask? Thanks in advance!
The Bose HU would also require the Bose amp and wiring harness, any speakers can be used, it will not be plug and play.
BTW, you can do a lot better with an aftermarket HU.

It would be a hassle trying to find all the seperate parts needed to do this swap. The amount of money spent doing a bose conversion in your car would be well over the amount of a realy nice aftermarket setup. It would sound a lot better if you got 4 speakers a four channel amp and head unit, possibly a sub. Not to mention the in dash 6 disc changers tend to lock up and a used one could possibly be sold to you already broken. In the long run I personally would go aftermarket.
