Have I searched on this issue? = Yes. Very much. Without specific answers to my questions.
My car? = bone stock 97 Integra with B18B and a 5-speed trans.
Motor I am wanting to swap in? = B20 with my existing B18B intake manifold, distributor, exhaust, transmission, etc.
Which B20? = not sure.
Why? = not sure which is easiest or which one can't be done with parts I have on my ls motor. I am assuming the 97 B20, but the 99+ B20 makes more power.
Anything else? = Yes, what about the B20 not having a crank sensor, and my ls motor having one?
Is that it? = No, one more thing. Is there anything else that will need to be done that makes this swap any different from simply interchanging the motor my car currently has with another just like it?
Any other questions? = Yes, what about a 99 spec B16A2 cylinder head? I mean, I know i'd have to do the LS vtec conversion which I fully understand, but what about the associated wiring and little **** involved besides getting a vtec ecu? My car is an Obd2a car I believe, and the B16a2 is an Obd2b system I think also. So, where do I stand with this?
Thanks.

This is not an issue at all. The head isn't specific to any particular system. For all intents and purposes the only real difference between the OBD2a and OBD2b is the way the harness plugs into the ECU.

Good. We're going places. Now, how about how the cylinder head plugs into my engine bay? I already have a a stock b16a2 intake manifold, but it has nothing on it. LOL
Would all of my LS sensors plug into the B16a2 sensors that are both on the intake manifold and on the head? I am assuming, after reading your post, that it will be a plug'n'play scenario except for the vtec subharness that will need to be installed, and the obvious ls/vtec conversion install.
Lastly, what about O2 sensors and the knock sensor?
Thanks for reading my thread. I have a blown head gasket, I strongly believe, on my B18B. Damn.

Sensor readings are the same, and things like the IAT, and the throttle body are interchangable. It's been a while so I can't recall whether or not the IACV will bolt right on or not. Use your existing O2 sensors.
If you go through with the conversion, please do it right.

Hey, here's the big one.
Here in "Lowsy"ana, our vehicle inspection for OBD2 cars consists of plugging a cable into the OBD2 diagnostic connector to check for codes, memory codes, the vehicle readiness test, etc. Can't sneak around it with an OBD2 car since it's plugin and scan or no inspection sticker. By the way, we inspect cars at our shop. Anyhow, if I type in my vin # as a 97 integra ls, but I have a B16a2 ecu from a 99 civic si, won't this **** things off?
This has always been a big question of mine. I might as well go ahead and throw it out there. LOL

I can't say that I know the answer to that question, but it's theoretically possible that if you connect a rather extensive piggyback computer such as the Greddy EMU, your car will still register OBD2 information with the correct information, but run the engine the way it needs to be run.
