ok so im looking to purchase a set of coilovers for my ej8. right now im rocking tein stechs which are great springs, but i want to go lower. alot of people tell me that tein ss coilevers will give me a way lower car with a pretty factory ride, but alot of people also say they are overpriced. so i need some help. im looking for a low low car with a nice comfortable ride that doesnt beat you to death IF there is a cheaper and equal alternative to the tein ss. thanks in advance guys. sorry if this is the wrong place for thiis.

 

Have you heard or checked out the skunk2 coilovers?

Are you referring to the full coilovers or the sleeve coilovers. The Pro-S setups that I've driven on were quite stiff given the relatively modest spring rate. For a "closer to stock" ride I would consider the Skunk2 sport shocks and sleeve coilovers though.

Ground Control's are sleeve coilovers. They'll give you pretty much any spring rate you want. When combined with Koni Yellow shocks they can be quite a potent combination, but everything depends on how you set it all up.

 

When I think of full coilovers, I don't think of "factory ride".

Most people on H-T prefer the Ground Control/Koni combo.

If your main goal is super low with a streetable ride instead of setting FTD, I'd probably use air bags instead of coil overs.

 

check out k sports they work pretty good it drop my car alot and you can adjust the dampening to your liking.

 

Check out Progress Competition... The ride is great compaired to my old DC with Eibach sportlines/ KYB combo, and I thought it drove pretty smooth.

 

I like my Tokico Illumina/Eibach Sportline combo

 

the k sports are nice nexx suspension and dont forget the full tein setup

 

for comfort my tein super street's are not soft, you can set the dampening force to soft, which can make it a little better, but over all it will be ruff, k sports are made in china with a limited warranty, people like them because they are cheap, i have ridden in them with the setting set to soft, and it was anything close to soft. If your looking for a somewhat soft ride I would go with ground control and Koni's and its not near the price of SS's.

 

I here what your saying just not a big fan of slip-ons. I have road race suspension from an ek on my car so you can imagine how stiff it is. My car has 1 inch from the quarter panel to the wheel and the front has 1 inch and its at the highest height possible! but i like my setup lol. I always seen the KYB AGX struts with the adjustments but never meet anyone who had them so im not sure how good they are.

so im new to what a sleeve coilover is n all that. ive heard a whole lot about the ground control and koni setup so i might look into it. would that setup be cheaper that tein ss for a 100 ej8? does anyone have some links to that setup casue im not entirely sure what im looking for. thanks!

 

All preference People are going to say yes to this and no to that. If you got the money look for a full coilover system, if you get sleeve of strut, make sure you dont cheapen out on the strut part. Thats my two cents.

I say "no" to that .

Screw coilovers, pair a nice set of struts like KYB or Bilstein up with a good set of springs like Tokico, Koni, etc. - and you got urself a sweet deal goin on.

I'm riding KYB struts with 2" drop Tokico Reds and I love it...of course I haven't driven it yet since I put the KYB's in...but whatever was in there before was good too, lol &gt;.&lt;.
