D168Y8 problems galore... please help
Well, I've been fixing my car for over a month now and it still has problems. Here are the codes it is throwing:
22 - VTEC coil
65 - Secondary o2 sensor (not worried about this)
91 - Fuel tank pressure sensor
Two questions about this:
1. I can replace the VTEC solenoid if needed, but will a z6 solenoid fit? They are much more plentiful
2. Where is the fuel tank pressure sensor?
And the other problem: bad idle.
I have the 3-wire to 2-wire conversion (throttle body IACV to y8 engine harness) and have replaced the IACV, but the car still idles between 1500-2500 rpm. When I replaced the IACV it went down from 2000-3000 to the lower numbers, so I think that the IACV is working (no code 14 being thrown either). However, it still idles poorly, and I don't know why. There are no vacuum leaks at all, the IACV is bolted up correctly.
Could someone suggest some things to look for? I guess I don't know what's wrong so I don't know what I am doing in this case. The only thing that I have thought about doing was replacing the intake manifold with one that has provisions for a IM mounted IACV, which is the one that ideally would be on my motor. But I honestly don't know any more... I'm about to just pull the motor and sell the shell and motor separately so someone else can mess with it.
Thanks,
Sean

This thread contains a few suggestions about your bad idle.
I know you aren't throwing a code 14 but this may help still...
Good luck

Thanks for the help.
I meant the VTEC pressure valve :-/
I cleaned the IACV and put it back on and now it waivers between 1500-2500rpm much more like it did before. There aren't any massive vacuum leaks that I can tell, but I will test out more stuff tomorrow I guess.
Could it possibly be the MAP sensor?

91 - Fuel tank pressure sensor
Could be caused by a bad gas cap. If it doesn't hold the pressure and leaks, you will throw a code 91. Swap it out with a known good cap from one of your buudies, clear out the code and see what happens.

Interesting... how would you recommend bleeding the coolant system? Running the car for a bit with the radiator cap off so it cycles the coolant and can purge air bubbles into the atmosphere?
I just replaced the coolant, so that could possibly be a (or the) problem.
I will also check the gas cap tomorrow.
Thanks
