Default cluster lights

i was installing a pioneer headunit in my civic. i ordered the adapter harness so i wouldnt have to cut wires and all that. on the adapter harness there are 2 orange wires. one for illumination and one for dimmer. on the headunit harness there is only one orange wire for illumination. i thought that they should both be attached to work. well that is not the case. i called crutchfield where i got the adapter harness from and they said usually the dimmer wire is not suppose to be used. so now instead of my whole cluster lighting up, only half of it does. also when the lights are turned on the climate control ***** are suppose to light up and so is the cruise control button and the mirror switch. they do not light up, only half of the gauge cluster does. a fuse blew and i replaced it and it blew again and now i think that a wire might be fried or something like that only im not sure. i am clueless as where to start or what to look for so any help would be great. i appreciate all the help i get. thanks.

same thing happened to me when i intalled my fogs i put the plugs on the wrong socket and when i turn it on half of my cluster is gone same with the a/c, temp ***** and mirror and the auto window,
it could be a wrong wiring or your harness is grounded
worst case proly your cluster is fried half of it needs to get fix or get a new cluster
all those lights are run by 1 fuse
i never bought a new cluster well my mechanic just check all my bulbs and and the cluster he just put a piece of wire connected from the bulb to the other working bulb
and voila everything works fine again

Based on your info I would start with where you were hooking the adapter harness. Did you use any type of splice or vampire clip to connect the dimmer wire in somewhere? The fuse blowing sounds like something is grounding out and the fuse is protecting more expensive things from getting hit with too much amperage. If you can, provide some more details on the harness and exactly what you did while trying to connect the new headunit, the more information provided, the easier it will be for others to help you pinpoint causes.

I know of someone with a 7th generation accord 4dr that has an srs light issue and is related to the passenger seat sensor. Looks like from some searching that might be a good place to start your investigation.
