bluetooth sound system? and dash control?
so im thinking about getting this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ol...18405
im sure some of you have a bluetooth connection through your sound system. i'm still stuck with the stock sound system (luckily i also got the headrest speakers
) considering how our sound system isn't all too great, and we do have alot of cabin noise, anyone know how a built-in bluetooth deck sounds? can i speak in a normal volume or will i be screaming to talk to people?
i have a bluetooth headset, but it really annoys me, the fact that it's hanging on my ear and that it's just another thing to carry. a new deck would seem like a good solution. plus it comes with some other goodies like aux outlet, making new CDs with only up to 20 songs sounds troublesome now.
also, since our cars do have the dash control buttons, would i lose that feature if i get the new deck installed? or is there a way to wire it to the dash?

Hey, sorry this doesn't help with your question, but I was wondering what year your S2k was and if it came with the headrest speakers ( I wish to have one on my own when I buy one, haha).
Yes you will lose the function of the dash controls but you can buy a piece that allows you to use them. My friend has a bluetooth deck in his car, he rarely uses it, atleast here in Florida. Top always down..
What is everyone's obsession with headrest speakers? I think they are ugly and un-needed. Factory speakers work great, i amplified mine and they sound great.

As for the microphone built into the head unit for bluetooth calls... It's probably not going to work to well with the top down due to all the wind noise. I think I have read about them on another site and got the same type of reviews.
You can buy adapters for any head unit that uses a remote, to allow you to use your factory dash controls.

You can get the Honda headrest speakers for any 00-05 S2000, they are an option from the dealer. You can buy them here for about 400$. (Waste of $$ IMO)

You can also get something similar called S-Pods.
The 06+ S2000 which have all the cool new features, have speakers built into the roll hoops. You can see them in these pics:

well from honda you cant buy just the plastics, its the entire roll hoop for $105.xx or something like that for each, then $5 for each speaker cover. then after that you need to buy the speakers and get connectors, but i cant find the prices for those on hondas website. it doesnt seem too hard to unbolt the roll hoops and reinstall the new ones, but i could be wrong... its happened before

The thing is, I am not sure the roll hoops are the same and/or have the same mounting points.

I'm pretty sure that any bluetooth system will not work in an S2000, the car is just too loud. I have a Garmin GPS that has bluetooth but people couldn't hear me at all when I tried it. I can hear everyone ok, and by the way this was with the top up. I didn't even attempt to use it with the top down. The only thing in terms of bluetooth that works for me is my Jawbone headset, works great! http://us.jawbone.com/

i bought a 2004 s2000. it came with the oem optional headrest speakers. i seriously don't know what i'd do without these headrest speakers, they improve sound quality so much, but i still don't think it's all too great. it is a convertible so i'm not all too suprised.

You think like a sound system specialty shop would have this piece or the wiring? i mean the new deck would come with a remote, but that could be hard to use at night. the dash controls are so easy to use.

Oooh, I think it was here, or somewhere in s2ki.com that I read that headrest speakers are gone forever. From this, I was thinking that they didn't implement new speakers near our ears, but now that you mention the speakers in the roll hoops, that's even more cool! haha thanks

If they don't have it in stock i'm sure any of them could order. the name of the part escapes me right now but you could buy it yourself online and have someone put it in.

well i got a Kenwood KDC-BT838U. Since the CD changer doesn't work with the new deck i had them take it out and have decided to sell the unit.
I've seen these go for $400+ brand new. i'll sell for $300obo

Ok some people are giving good advice an some people are straight talking through there ***... sooooo let me shed some light
for everyone that doesnt own roll hoop speakers or headrest speakers, you really shouldnt comment on them...
i bought a set of JL VR-600 cxi's and put them in my roll hoops... not only are they are great sounding speaker, but you actually can here your system at 80mphs with the top down without having to crank it up to max volume... also, it gives you that surround sound feel...
second, with bluetooth head units... i own one and thinks its the best mod ive doen to my car... i use it all the time... especially since jersey passed that hands free law...
i can hear people crystal clear even with the top down... on the highway, ill put the windows up, but still thats not that bad... i mounted the mic on the A-pillar by the visor... ill take pics to show you exactly what i did... ohh and i own the pioneer 7900BT
http://www.pioneerelectronics....900BT
ohh and mine came with the ipod control so basically its the ultimate headunit for me...
and i bought the modifry dash module http://www.modifry.com best $100 you can spend...

i have a pioneer dehp5900ib with the bluetooth adapter add-on... works well. even top/windows down. i mounted the mic here

i found it worked best there (out of the places I tried) since it didn't get the wind noise blowing into the mic. i called my voicemail at ~70mph top down and although I had to "speak up" it was still understandable

sweet mounting spot... im finally getting my camera back today so ill try and snap some pics of my setup... yeah the place i mounted mine has no wind noise as well... its crazy how good it works
wow you got a nice spot for your mic. Mine is right next to my rear view mirror. it still works pretty well i heard from other people i talked to through it. The only reason i could think of is my mic is there is because the place i brought it to, they don't go through the dash or anything. I thought i would actually have to scream or something to talk, but i speak at a pretty normal volume. Not to mention, my new deck is great. i could really hear the change in quality of my speakers once the new deck went in too. I could take a pic of it and post, eventually..

the reason people get them is because they work, certainly arent ugly and give the stereo a more full sound.(mine are to the front +2) i really hope you atleast have an 02, because everytime i put my leg infront of the door speaker i could barely hear anything with the top down at 80. i know you amped your stock ones but really, you should give the headrest speakers a shot. oh and if ANYTHING is ugly, it is the AP2 seats, not sporty at all and look like the male anatomy.

i had that problem in my ap1. whenever i'd sit in mine and cover the door speakers it would be annoying. i don't have that problem in the ap2 though. and ap2 seats > ap1... from experience
