Default new in the old or not at all?

i have a 85 honda civic 4 door. i bought it for 250$ and spent 400$ on repairs. it is goin to sound weird but i like the body style. i seen one fixed up on the freeway and i thought it looked alright. i want to paint it dark black and slam it w/ civic si rims. well i want it to be faster. i was thinking about dropping a b16 in it. well the question is if it is realistic to do this. i seen an older civic model w/ a b16 ( the one w/ round headlights). but i dont know if the transplant would fall w/ in 2.5k$. it would be a nice sleeper though. what do you experts think. i would appreciate any feed back . thanks.
