Default HP+ or Yellow Stuff

I will be running at Gingerman and possibly Road America, both high speed courses and both are going to be lapping days. I could use some advice from guys who have experienced the Yellow Stuff. I have a lot of friends that use the HP+'s and they like them but I really like what I'm reading about the Yellow Stuff. The price isn't much different between the two brands either. Any advice/expreience/stories that could help me make my choice would be great. TIA

I run HPDE's in my mk3 Jetta.

Not quite the same, but my experience with EBC Yellow has been wonderful.

~2800lbs, 205/45/16 Kuhmo V700, Stock 10.1" front brakes, yellows up front, Porterfield R4S rear. Very consistent braking; no fading at all.

Whats nice about the Yellows is that they are also a great street pad. I've been running yellows up front for over 2 years now, and only my second set. I just changed to the second set this past spring, so the first lasted alot of miles, even with over 8 hours of track time. They also don't dust as bad as the Hawks either.

The rest of EBC's brake pad line suck, I will agree on that, but the Yellows are worth it.

I tried the yellows when i went to the Si brakes, they wore out in 2 events. My buddy ran them ALL last year on his GSR with no problems ..

I went back to Carbotech XP-10's and wont look back for nuthin

Personally I haven't had any inconsistency problems as far as wear and dusting with my Yellows, but I have heard a few stories like that.

I will be switching to an 11" Wilwood setup up front, so will be in the market for a different set of pads if the Q compound Wilwoods don't hold up. I've heard really good sucess stories about Carbotech though. They seem to be a great company.

HP+ are a great autox pad, but they overheat too quickly due to their high coefficient of friction. The EBC Yellow isn't a hardcore track pad by any means, but it'll last much longer on a road course without fading. I used both on my 3300lb 350z and I would never buy the HP+ again.

p.s. the Hawks are loud and squeaky as f*ck, the EBC's are completely silent.

No where near as fast as the yellows, for me anyway.

Melissa did a Track Day, I ran Roebling, and Summit and still have more than half the pad left on the Carbotechs
I do still have the yellows in the rear. they look new still

Yellows in the front lasted CMP and just made Road Atlanta

I am hearing as many good as bad comments, maybe I'll just have to try for myself or leave it up to the price. I haven't really looked at the carbotechs I should probably check those out maybe too. The HP+'s are very loud but keep in mind these will be pads that go on for the races and come off after.

I'm running a set of the ax6's for autocrossing and they stop way harder than any of the hawk pads I've ever used. The Xp10's I have are also outstanding once you get some heat into them.

Ive never been impressed with ebc. i found that they faded worse than most pads ive used in the past. Im on my 3rd or 4th set of hawks and still love em. Another pad to take a look at is pfc. The Zrated is good, but its sometimes tough to find them for a civic. (the might not make them anymore actually) Ive used them in the past with better than average results.

What about Porterfield, specifically the R-4 compound?

I am going to have to agree. I was at an open lapping day at MAM 2 weeks ago and there was a driver there who caught 2 diff sets of EBC yellows on fire in less than 20 mins of track time each. He was in a 4dr Civic Si so I doubt it was from having too much power.

They work and last, a full season of 10 double race weekends for me. The carbotechs work but only make it through 3-4 weekends for me.

+1 I have tried both, and the Yellows were much more resistant to fade in my 3300lb car. HP+ bite harder though.
