Default 2001 Integra Ignition and key in a 1996 integra

Okay... I have done the searching.... and google... and other forums and I cannot seem to get a definite answer on whether or not a 2001 ignition and key will work on a 1996 integra. I am one of those owners whose keys dont match and found a deal for a whole set trunk and all. The only problem is that the 2001 key and ignition has a transponder. Any help would be great. Thanks in advanced.

yes it will work as long as your ecu isnt looking for the immobilizer key then it will start and run like normal

Fortunately none of the 96 ECU's had immobilizers. There should be no issues.

It should work without any problem(s), like the poster above me stated. Well, if it don't work out I can sell you my spare 96 ignition w/ key, PM me...

you dont really need to buy a entire set of locks... you can get all your locks rekeyed... to use the same key
