Default painting fenders need help

i got 2 new primed front fenders.

i would like to paint them but dont know what to do.

either i can spray paint them and clear them.. all done by can

or get a oem or similar base coat... and then clear coat. and i also need a reducer aka mineral spiritus right?

The second option cost alot more money. where do you guys recommend buying from?
and how much of the paint , clear, reducer would i need to get?

if u buy spray cans u wouldnt need any reducer.

but if u buy oem paint, u will, probably a 2:1 ratio. u would probably also need some hardner as well.

i bought my paint from NAPA, cost 31.99 for a quart like 15$ for a quart of reducer and 25$ for a pint of hardner.. i belive they can mix custom paint into spray cans2, not sure on the price.

you wont need more than a quart to paint 2 fenders more then twice over.

so base, reducer and hardener go all together?

any actually i got some oem paint color ordered in cans, so ill just be spray painting the fenders and then clear, but one problem i have is there is some small scratches on one of the fenders.

depending on how samll ur scracthesare. u should try sanding them out with some 400 grit. and re-prime it. or u might be able to get rid of them after painting them and buffing them out

we sprayed the fenders without sanding it because it was already factory primed. The paint has a rough surface to it and when you run your finger along it some paint comes off.

What do we have to do?
I think i will be getting a 1000 grit and wet sanding the fender lightly and then spray it a few more times. But if the surface will still be rough what do i do? do i just clear coat it?

try applying 'acetone' to the surface before painting. and that should hekp the paint adhere to it better. and as for the roughness, yea you should be a clear on there but that wont solove that issue, it will have to be color sanded and buffed out. im goin through that process on my car right now.

color sanding usually is with wet/dry sand paper from 1500-2500 grit. as for buffin, i have no idea bout that stuff, my buddys doin it on mine.

i got some 800 grit paper and wetsanded the fenders, ALOT of paint just went away, becaseu it wasnt even sticking.
So now i will be respraying.

i did a small spot on the back of the fender with clear and it came out nice. But i did sand it 150 grit before spraying.

both fenders are painted.
and cleared. Passenger fender is worse. you can see the deep sanding spots where the paint came off more.

Now What is the next step?
will scratch X help get rid of the orange peel?

do u mean u want to get rid of the sanding marks?, since you used 150 u should of used a higher grit afterwards and either bonded and primed it or used primer-filler then used 600-800 to sand the primer. but if dont mind the scratches i would suggest color sanding , which jus mean sandin the finished product, with at least a 1500 grit, and/or buff that **** out. but i would wait at least 48 hrs to do taht
