Hey all,
I have a bearing issue in my stock 5-spd D16Y7 transmission, and it will cost me less money to replace the entire transmission than to repair this one.
So I am going to drive to Toronto to Tiger Japanese, since it's only a 20 minute drive from me. I am on their website, and I noticed that they list two different D15B transmissions:
92-95 D15B for $150
96-00 D15B for $190
I thought these two were the same, but apparently not...so my question is this: Which one of these has shorter gear ratios? Are they the same or is one shorter?

The '92 - '95 D15B vtec transmission is as far as i know tied with the EX/Si transmission as the shortest geared transmission available. The '96 - '00 D15B vtecs are a real oddity, they're both vtec-e and regular SOHC vtec, so i don't know how honda geared the matching transmission, but i'm going to guess that its either geared the same or somewhat longer. I'd say the safe choice here is the '92 - '95 personally.

Anyone?? I need this information quick if possible, because while I'm here at work I have someone going over there to pick it up for me...and if I can save $40 by bolting up the 92-95 spec tranny, then that would be great

So the 92-95 D15B tranny will bolt-up to my 2000 D16Y7 perfectly, without any modifications? I mean I am 99% sure it will, but I need clarification because I'm sending my dad over there as I type this, and he doesn't believe me

Yes it bolts up. All '92 - '00 D-series transmissions are 100% interchangeable.

Thanks, I thought so as well. So basically, tigerjapense is trying to make an extra $40 on people who don't know this...
