There's not really a way to help, it's too bad the other 2 guys didn't help you.
If I'm seeing these charts correctly, the B18B1 was in Integras from '94-'01 - which makes things a bit "iffy" - if the engine is '96-'01 - it's OBD-II and will have a VIN on it which you can carfax to get the year of the car. Though if it's a '94/'95 engine, there's no way to tell, simply if it doesn't have a VIN on it, you know it's either a '94 or '95 motor.
That's under what I've heard that OBD-II Honda engines had a VIN plate, I'm not 100% on that issue.

Sorry, but I'm NOT believing anybody gave away a B18B1 for *FREE* - how about you?!?!?
Makes for an interesting thread though...

He didn't ask you to believe whether or not he got it for free, he asked if there's a way to tell the year.
It's not up to you and your investigative intuitions to imply that he found a stolen motor.
EDIT:
You can't really play jury here and try to decide which posts are legit people asking for help, and which ones are pple that picked up illegal **** and are asking for help.
You kind of need to regard it the same, and help them or not help them regardless.

Hrm, now that you mention it, I do believe there is. Though I'm not sure where it is nor if it was on all heads.

Thats what I thought I didnt see a vin plate on it which i thought there would be but if its true that only OBD II motors have the vin plate then I probablly have one from a 94-95. I will have to look for that date on the head.

LOL the motor is not stolen the tech at my work was given the motor from a tech at his dads work. The tech at my work bought a 91 hatch that he fixed up and turned around and sold the hatch, so he had no use for the motor since he is a chevy guy and that was the only honda he had ever owned, so he said i could have it. I dunno what you want me to take a picture of (proof that i have the motor sitting in my garage?) I can take a picture of me in a thong bikini posing next to it but you probably wouldnt want to see that
Also I really don't feel like wasting the time i spent at school for law enforcement to eff up my future career for stolen goods.

I dunno what the deal is with the vin plate whether it comes on OBDII motors or not, I just check the head and saw it is a 96 but it doesnt have the vin plate on the motor which is wierd because i thought it would have. Thanks for all the info everyone!

No, they don't have VIN's in Japan - though the OP's can't be a JDM motor since it's a B18B1, it would just be a B18B if it was JDM.

Yeah, I don't know where the VIN plate is, I'm sure if I looked at my helms, which I don't feel like going through I could tell you, but "eh"...though as far as I know all OBD-II hondas (USDM) have it. It could also of course be a different head (coulda cooked the valves in the old head or something).
