Default Posibly buying a bike in the USA. I need some help.

Hi everyone,
As you probably know from my continuous bitching from extreme prices in Venezuela i'm pondering upon the idea of purchasing a track bike in the USA to bring to Venezuela. I was looking at this bike, I more or less have my heart set on a 03-04 600RR, and they run for about $10000 in Venezuela.

BIKE IS BONE STOCK EXCEPT FOR -1 FRONT SPROCKET AND SCOTTS DAMPER. WAS NEVER RACED...JUST USED AS A TRACK DAY BIKE. JUST TURNED 10K MILES (MOSTLY STREET OF COURSE) SALVAGE TITLE (MV907A NYS) BRAND NEW BATTERY

TURN KEY READY TO TAKE TO THE TRACK. </TD></TR></TABLE>

$3500 plus shipping to Miami ~$500.

NY Salvage Tittle.

Heres the deal, i'm kinda nervous on buying a bike that i've never seen in person or for that matter transferring someone i don't know $4000 and then having him disappear.

So, in general, is this a good bike for the price, I was hoping to find something with at least rearsets and an exhaust, but I doubt i will make it happen for that price. And $4000 in miami is more or less my doable price, i could go a couple hundred over but I really dont want to, since shipping to Venezuela plus customs will probably be $1000 more.

Is there anyone in NYC that would be willing to check out the bike for me?

How do you guys deal with out of state buys like this one.

TIA, Stefano

You could always arrange for him to take it to a shop to have it checked out, then talking to the mechanic over the phone.

3500 is a pretty good price for a 1st gen 600rr w/ s-title, if it's straight.

but also be patient--i feel like i see alot of cheap race/track bikes in the southern US that would cost less to ship to miami that are pretty fully kitted out.

You might want to get more information on how much it's going to cost you to import the bike.

I know down here in Brazil where I work bike prices are rediculous and the importation taxes don't make it worth while to import one as you would be paying more than the price of the bike itself!

The whole transaction is probably not going to be easy if you don't anyone in Miami who can package the bike in a crate it for you anyways....

edit: I just saw you want it as a track bike so I assume you won't be registering it. I would imagine that makes life easier for you.

My thoughts exactly, I wanted something that had more of "the goodies" on it allready, thing is I really want a 600rr, and I didnt know it would be posible to get a 600rr for ~3500 near Miami, have you seen them go for about this price, with at least, track plastics, rearsets, exhaust?

I got the whole importation deal covered, it really just cost shipping and having someone do the basic paperwork only so I can prove its not stolen, but i dont want to make it street legal. Any how, I am 100% sure that it cost at most about $6500 to have it at my house. Im still saving, in the worst case, $3500.

what is it you want the person to check out?

I live close to the nyc area. If the owner is willing to travel to NJ I would be able to help out
