About to Order an Exhaust, Quick Question...
I have a 94' Prelude V-Tec, it needs a new muffler and i'm not financially well enough off to get a good catback, but i'm looking to pick up a good muffler and have a local shop weld some 2.5 pressbent (no mandrel here
), what's a good muffler to go with, and what type of $ is worth spending?? I remember reading about a pretty decent, non-abrasive looking muffler for sale on this site that is flat black, any experience? I remember a lot of people ordering it, but can't remember even a name to do a search with? Also, any experience with eliminating the resonator? I've only heard cars that also had the cat hollowed out or a test pipe with no resonator, but haven't heard it with a cat w/o the resonator with an aftermarket exhaust... I'd really like to avoid any raspy/ricer tone if possible, though i'd assume the only sure bet is to pick up a resonator, but i'm just curious if i really need to do that or not...
Any gains possible since it's not going to be mandrel bent?

my favorite sounding exhaust system to date was the APEXi N1 piping mated with a flat black vibrant street power muffler. That exhaust was 2.25" ID and had the best tone, imo, that i have ever heard on a lude.
If your looking for a deep note cat back muffler setup, check out powerflow mufflers. I got one with press bends 2 1/4" piping. Sounds great not too loud and no rasp at all. I had the muffler painted black and a twin 3" tip welded on the back. No resonator. Much less expensive than Apexi etc, if finances are a prob. Goodluck with it
. Heres a pic of the rear end. Wanted it to look oem style just bigger tips.

I have a 1995 H23 Prelude and I was in the exact same boat you are. I ended up purchasing a catback from the seller "advanation" on ebay. The exhaust bolted right up to my cat, all the hangers matched up, and it tucks nicely on the bumper. 140 dollars shipped. It features 2 1/4 inch piping to a 4 inch tip I believe? It looks like it would be loud and raspy but it has a really nice deep tone. It almost sounds like a subaru 2.5. I put a couple really bad videos up on youtube, if you look up my user name there. I'll be uploading a much better video shortly. Its really not loud at all, under normal driving you would barely notice it. With the silencer in, its as quiet as stock. For the price, you really can't go wrong. Even if you don't like the sound, or the look of the muffler, for 140 bucks shipped, its a deal.
I am running a catbback from ebay. It is mandrel bent, stainless steel. Replaced the resonator with a 4 inch Magnaflow round muffler, and replaced the muffler too. The thing is, you can get a good quality, mandrel bent stainless steel pipe for less than a crush bent aluminized pipe from the local muffler shop.

i have a GT Spec Exhaust System with 2.5inch piping. Don't take off the resonator, it will sound raspy I know from experience. And you could say it kind of sounds like a subaru.
