Default shifting comfort on ep3?

after totaling my integra i'm going to the auction tomorrow to hopefully get my hands on an Rsx, Rsx-S, or an ep3 si. The ep3's shifter sits up like a pickup truck's, a question to all owners; is it as uncomfortable as it looks?

I don't, and to be honest with you I don't even really miss an armrest. The Ep shifter is VERY different and alot of people won't even give it a chance, but honestly once you get used to it,it great. I actually like it better. The only real downside is that they gave the Ep's the a3 when they really should've had the a2. Also, believe it or not there is alot of interior room I hauled 2 sets of wheels and 2 sets of tires to take them to get the tires mounted and balanced on the wheels (back seats down of course).

I had an EP3. Hated the shifter. It worked ok, but nothing outstanding enough to make me desire it.

It's a rally car shifter in a 160hp FWD car...somewhat out of place to be honest. No one else (or even Honda) has put a shifter there again, so I dunno...

<--- Waits for WhiteOnRice's response of how comfortable the shifter is and should be in most cars today.

Edit: Oh, and how it is the best thing Honda has ever made.

Unique is not always good, though.

You guys can debate this all you want, but the 'bent nail' dashboard shifter certainly didn't help the car sell in the US. It was akward and ugly to most folks. I just didn't like it being so high because in a daily driver, I had to reach for it. Now, for autox'ing, it was in a great position when your hands were 10 and 2.

Remember, in 2002 dealers were basically giving these cars away at $16K out-the-door. Heck, I leased my 02 at $199/month, no money down. I haven't seen a deal like that in a long time.

This is true. Also the reason you see 1 ep3 for every 50 dc5's here in oregon. I bought mine because I felt shifting it was very comfy, and it has tons of room in the back seat. I get a lot of comments, some good, some bad, but nomatter what you think its all on the drivers opinion NOT onlookers. I think the only way he's going to find out if its comfy is if he goes and drives one.

that, and "no armrest" argument,
so, get an automatic for your DD if you want comfort! -the EP3 is a Compact (wanna be) Sports Car!

Exactly! For spirited driving, you can't beat it! i wish all my cars had it.
i did have an old Dodge truck, a Mercury Monarch, and a 1970 Chevy Biscayne -All had the 3 on the tree!
("3 on the tree" meant that your shifter was on the steering column- fun! but weird!)

*disclosure statement.... "i like weird cars!"
and I LOVE MY EP3! ~even if it doesn't have 3 on the tree~

Rally Shifter FTW!

I love it.... I just wish it didn't feel AND sound clunky

Maybe I can replace some bushings and help it out, but still.

To be totally honest, it didn't bother me at all when I first test drove it.

But then it kinda got annoying not having an arm rest. The shifter itself I don't mind at all, just wish there was an arm rest.

I concur, and I'm surprised he wasn't the first one to post his opinion. This question specifically always get to him.

*gets off nuts* Where is he anyway? He should be here by now.

i mean there are aftermarket arm rests you can buy and mount to center console or you could even rig up like a minivan type one, or something

The EP3 Shifter is byfar the most comfortable and precise shifter I've had, and I've had alot of cars.

There is a place that sells an arm rest for the EP3, and you can probably google it to find them. They are around $200 or so, if I remeber correctly.
