Default So... I'm about to join the Prelude family..

I'm getting a 97 lude this week with some work done to it.

Just wondering how much I'm getting raped on the price :/

It's a 97 with 60,xxx original miles and 1200 miles on the engine.
I can't list all the mods, but he has 24k in receipts excluding labor.

I'm paying 16k for this thing and am really bitting the bullet following through with it.

Anyway, I'm excited for my second Honda

I would say multiple times without lube. I've seen turbo'd 5th gens for sale in the area of about $9-10k

The dyno I saw on July 1st right after the break in period was 455whp and 398t on 12 psi. Mind you this is at 5280ft+++ above sea level.

The shop that built the car has agreed to stand behind it and its work.

The car has been dragged once at Bandimere and ran a 10.5 on the same tune as dynoed.

::sigh:: I'll go find the papers and right out some of the work done :/

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see how...sleeved block, forged pistons and rods, balanced and blueprinted assembly, etc etc would be barely be close to 5-6K. I don't see a dry sump oiling system, COP ignition or much if any custom work. Doesn't even have a standalone EMS, he's using Hondata (assuming from the sticker) which is not that expensive.

That manifold also would easily pass the visual inspection of an eBay special (probably isn't, but it doesn't look too expensive) and the BOV and wastegate don't look high-end either. IMO it's hard to believe a legit 24K in parts alone.

And it's even on Rotas....definitely not 24K in parts. Does that include the car itself?

I'd say somewhere in the $10 to $12 grand range would be the most fair. But $16,000 is too high.

However, it's only worth what you or someone else is willing to pay.

Rotas are fine, just cheap. A 24K car would have Volks

I would be very surprised if this car does run 10s....

IMO $12G is as high as i would go for this particular Lude. Ultimately the decision comes down to you, goodluck with it

Yeah I would not believe that car has run a 10 sec pass, especially at Bandimere. Just because Speedimage has a few civics that run low 10's does not mean a prelude will. Now if they did the work, its probably a good tune and a solid car, but not worth 16K. If you want a sick turbo lude, theres a 4th gen for sale in Aurora for 8k, dynos like 455 pump gas 600 race gas.

Also shameless plug, check out coprelude. net!

a pretty solid parts list, dont believe its 24k, but its a decent chunk of money invested.

if the car is extremely clean it may be worth 16k, but being its a turbo car and your already ok with 16k i would offer 13.5 or 14k, for it and give yourself some cash room incase **** breaks.

local 5th gen runs a 11.18 in the quarter with about that power.

I happen to like it. Its a good looking car on the exterior and the engine bay. Power sounds good and I would venture to say its possibly worth the money for an awesome turnkey setup considering its obviously not a hack job. You guys might consider it high, but this guy easily has 24k into the car with labor and everything(although it was stated no labor included). I sure as hell know I have more than 24k into mine without labor.

Im in for the time slips though. I dont see 10's out of it. Its just heavy, not exactly setup for drag, high elevation, power sub 500 (dont see many civics doing it with those hp #s), and takes practice to get a car there... 10.5 sounds ridiculous... Of course, my mph's are extremely high for my times...

i can gaurantee you that car does not go 10.5 ,,,well maybe in the 1/8 mile ,,**** that hp in a civic hatch will be very lucky to go 10.5 never mind a heavy azz prlude

Thanks for the feedback guys

I went to Speed Image and talked to the owner today about the lude and told him I was a little skeptical about the price (The 16k is actually a few grand less than what the original price was but I already knew that.)

The Dyno sheet I read was wrong. It hit the 455hp 398t on 8psi, not 12.

I wasn't even thinking about asking what time it ran at the track :/ I'll see if he has the slips this weekend.

The 24k is everything, not just the engine, without labor.

And about the price, I guess I only feel skeptical because 16k is a lot for an old car, but I see Preludes with over 120k miles on them, auto, for 10k+ on craigslist all the time for CO.

This car having 60k original miles and 1200 on the engine and components, I can see the stretch in wanting 16k. Plus the shop will stand behind it.

It also comes with slicks and another set of wheels, not like that really matters at all.

And a Kill switch so people can mess with me
