H2 Racer needs help!
just finished installing the BLOX intake manifold and a used BBK 62mm TB for a B16A2. put on a fuel pressure guage and regulator. I also put in a walbro 255 fuel pump.WHen i start the car it revs up to atleast 6500 rpm and i shut it off.
No fuel leaks...
So i try this ...
I covered the two ports inside the throttle body one at a time to see if that was the problem. nope...
what else can i do???
the fuel pressure guage reads about 34 or so as it revs up, and about 20 when the key is just turned over...
i did a throttlebody bypass ,,,and the intake manifold had an extra cooling nipple under the main cooling hose, i used a T there and looped it...
3 weeks untill i leave far nationals and i still have a Type R cam to install
Help!!!

Did you use a new intake mani gasket and throttle body gasket for install?
all vacumm ports plugged on intake?
Sounds to me like you have a massive intake leak. If you plugged the two holes on the throttle body the car should die

i got a new gasket for the throttle body and for the intake manifold from honda for a 2000 civic Si.
we just went out and plugged the nipple ontop the throttle body and the two ports inside the TB and it still did the same thing...
Damn my neighbors hate me right now

I will try more tomorrow. id rather not start the car again tonight , its super loud in the garage. Something has to work, i just hate waiting
yea, it definately sounds like a serious IM leak. sounds like u did the coolant bypass correctly (same as mine prittymuch). asside from an obvious stuck butterfly or way cranked up idle screw, i'd double check the few vac lines and make sure nothing underneeth (iac area) is off.
There are two plugs near the TB, one for the IACV, one for something else (been awhile since I messed around back there). They're the same exact type and color of plug, right near each other on the harness, etc, very easy to get them mixed up. Any chance you got them switched? They do weird things when plugged in backwards.

look.....if the throttle body is closed....and it revs to 6500 plus YOU HAVE A LEAK SOMEWHERE!!!! PERIOD....wires crossed will not make it rev to 6500....THERE HAS TO BE AIR for the engine to run that high....so....that means....intake manifold leak!!!! some where...wether it is between tb and im or im and head there is A LEAK THERE....NOTHING ELSE IT COULD BE!! start it....spray brake cleaner all around im at head an im at tb....if you have an itr tb and got a b16 tb gasket that is your problem there....they are not the same gaskets...

OP If you do this make sure you have a fire extinguisher or something to put out a fire in case you have a little spilt out fuel!
I bet either you A: have wrong gaskets B: didn't clean all the old gasket off C: the intake is warped

hi.
i agree with chad, 100%. check carefully and make sure that the main 62mm throttle butterfly is closing all the way when you aren't touching the gas; i saw this exact set of circumstances at last years national races; i was trying to help out a friend, and his car would immediately rev up to 7k+ rpm as soon as he started it.... it turned out that the butterfly shaft somehow got bent a little, and the throttle wouldn't close all the way. we finally figured it out, after removing the throttle body and examining it closely, while hand working the throttle plate opened and closed....
good luck; you'll find the problem soon, and all will be good!

but since u put the new tb have u calibrated the tps?? my buddy.s car would only rev to 2.5k n then sound like it was bouncin rev limiter befo it was calibrated.

Good to hear that you got it running, I had to chase a few problems around this weekend as well, though I wont be traveling to nationals, this year simply killed the budget.
Slight problem, unless I've read the rules incorrectly, the rules for running in H2 state that the throttle body must be a Honda throttle body, it looks like you're using a BBK throttle body. The specific rule is 10.3.f - "f) Any Honda throttle body may be used providing it utilizes an outlet size of 62mm or less. Over-boring of stock throttle body is permitted."
This was changed in the 2007-->2008 rules, here is how the 2007 rule read: "f) Any throttle body may be used that is 62MM or less at its largest point."

I can bring one to Nationals for you. $140.
2 issues with it-
1) BYO Sensors, TPS and MAP.
2) "Backup" spring under the TPS is missing. It broke into pieces and jammed the throttle open. After taking it off it works like a charm.. of course I already got a new ITR TB to replace it.

It's actually a Euro R 62mm throttle body. Bolts up same as ITR though. I have an ITR TB on my Euro R IM at the moment. Lemme know if you want it.
