hey is a 96 civic hatchback with a full 2000 si body (bumpers and all) clear headlights in mint condition for $4500 a good price? the car has no engine... I figure I can get it and but a civic si engine or something bigger into it and have a sweet car

 

Is it a good price to you? That is all that matters.

I paid 5k for my stock 96 with engine.

You can find stock engines for under 500, so it isn't that bad of deal I suppose.

 

yeah I'm figuring that for 4500....if I spend the money and drop in an SI engine or something like a gsr engine....I'm not sure what people would recomend to swap into hatchbacks....but say I spend like 3500 for an engine and tranny to be put in the car ( I have no idea if thats a good estimate) I'd end up with a really nice car

 

thats way 2 much in my opinion maybe 3k more reasonable. after the swap you looking at 7-8k total. depend on what motor u get

 

yeah but if the car has all the new body parts on it and the interior and exterior are in mint condition...wouldnt that be worth it?
also what engines do people usually swap into hatchbacks? my friend said screw the si engine

 

it depends on how much you want to spend and if you want to go all-motor or forced induction.

 

I figure turbo would be down the road...but as far as right away I'd do the basic mods to the car until later down the road when I have the money for turbo if I still want it...just not sure if the car itself is worth 4500

 

I wouldn't pay more the 3000 its just a shell..

the car has both the front and rear bumpers and it is painted....the guy bought the car minus the engine from someone and was gonna do a project on it....now he doesnt have the money for it....so he just wants to sell it....I figure if the car is in mint condition minus the engine and tranny....why not buy it, install an engine and end up with a nice car for like 7500-8000

 

i boguht my bone stock CX with AC from texas with 200,000mi for 4500. Interior was disgustingly dirty, just real dusty and trash and leaves everywhere. Body had dings scratches etc.. But now i have a CHmp white EK with a b16 and new everythign else. So if this car has a perfect body but no heart, just **** with it this one time. )

 

I say bargin it down to 4k and get that mo fo! No body really wants the stock motor, so they are just helping you out bro.

 

but they shouldnt know that, you should be goin into a deal like ur driving it as is.
so gettin a motor for it is the hassle, meaning cheaper to buy.
