aftermarket fairings?
I put my bike down for the first time a couple weeks ago, my fairings are scratched up and cracked and id like to replace them in the next month or two.
I've looked around and if i don't go back to factory replacements i've found myself partial to these sets

Ive heard of a lot of issues with fitment, and stay away from hong kong and such. My question is, What's everyone's experiences with aftermarket fairings? Any recommendations?
I know factory replacements are probably best but they cost around $1500. Just wondering if there are any quality aftermarket sets/distributors out there? Thanks.

Careful with those. There are a couple of companies that have refined their fitment and are more reputable (Auctmart, among others) but many aftermarket fairings are cheap and not worth the hastle. Read as much as you can about the different brands before making a decision. You can always fix your OEM's and repaint them. GL
I helped put a set of those plastics on my buddys GSXR. The end fit turned out good but not like the OEM. Also the plastic is verry brittle it dosent flex like the OEM stuff.
WOW! are those like clear acrylic ones in the second pic? thats a mad idea! hard to keep clean on the inside too tho?
i've heard all the things about fitment too, they say some of the holes are pre-drilled and some are not. the name i have heard through the years, and also mentioned here above, is auctmart on ebay and they are most likely the ones with refined fitments. but maybe that cud be only for bikes that have been around a while with lots of kits sold like the CBR600RR one? the most common complaint i've heard with these is the ram air duct covers at the top of the fairing with lots of people ending up not fitting them at all. the sellers strongly recommend fitment by a motorcycle bodywork professional, something that i dont believe exists in most parts of the world!! (even tho id feel up to the job myself i could be proved totally wrong!) i saw a '05 600RR with the rothmans kit just fitted and i was really amazed at how well it sat around the headlights, the guy had cracked a part of the fairing while fitting it and that must be pretty annoying. id imagine it might be difficult to get paint codes afterwards if needed, might be an idea to ask for those when buying. but the rest of it looked good. not sure what seller he used

im actually looking into a set as well to change up the looks and be able to use on the track without worrying about trashing my minty oem ones.
Who was it that said the auctmart ones were good? Is that for sure? Id like to see reviews cuz they have a bad *** set i might drop some money on (its the colin edwards world superbike color scheme)

well the only things that have been said here is that auctmart are around a long time, someone also mentioned that they are the most reputable sellers, and that their fitments have been refined over the years (but i believe this may be only for some, more popular models. i'm almost certain they refined the fitment of CBR600RR bodywork) i think i've seen a lot of reviews of them on model specific forums. if there is such a forum for your bike maybe it would be worth havin a browse? i dunno if this link will work for u to have a look: http://www.600rr.net/vb/search...02595
my friend put a set on his 03 GSXR and the fitment was a bit off, but good for the price i suppose. there was a guy on here who had the moviestar replica fairings for his 600rr and it looked pretty damn good!
i suppose as Axl Rose once sang, "ooh, you get what you pay for" i know a guy who got a repsol job on oem bodywork and it cost 2000 euro (incl. paint d wheels orange), so $700 for complete bodywork does sound attractive even if it is hard to fit without cracking it and may melt in places!

not eBay, got them directly from auctmarts as part of a promotion. They are refitting their k6 k7 gsxr plastics to be perfect fit. They were shipped from China as well if it makes a difference. thx for the compliments.
yeah theres no pics on the "home" page but if you click on the individual bikes it works for me.
from lookin at the e bay shop site (auctmarts1) it looks like there 3 types of fitment. 'perfect fit guaranteed', 'refined fitment' and just ones with no description. the first are more expensive unless on special offer, the last being the cheapest and prolly hardest to fit??
i've read a lot about melting plastic around the radiator area on the 600RR ones, even on the 'perfect fit' top priced kits and after heatguard material was used.
mite be ok on K6's or new 600RR's who knows?
also reports of the material shuddering in the wind at high speed, may not be dangerous, but it seems a well priced way of changin d colour of you're road bike
