I would also check to make sure your fan is kicking in like it should!

why did you hook it up to a switch ? i'm willing to bet 20 bucks that the coolant temp sending unit went out , there no more than 20 bucks at your local auto parts store ,oh and for the record it's under the distributor

Check your coolant temp sensor, your thermostat, your fan. Actually let the car run and watch to see if your fan turns on. If your upper radiator hose and lower radiatore hose are equally hot, the thermostat is working. If your fan isn't turning on it's your coolant temp sensor went bad assuming that there's no water leakage anywhere. Your headers will not get hot enough to cause the car to overheat.. if it does, then you have a serious problem other than overheating.

put a small jumper between the temp sensor and that will keep ur fan running all the time and might be able to figure out if its u fan or not ???might be ur headgasket? do u hve ur water reservoir in ur car beacause that will cause ur car to overheat

You need to put pressure to the coolant system And see if there are leaks. Ever check to see if the water pump is leaking? The weep hole is by the altenator upper bracket. A Little bit of coolant is normal but if its consistantly leaking or there's alot of built up dried coolant in and around the weep hole its leaking. Do all the suggested checks and reply back.
