Building another rex, need opionons.
Sup guys.
So presently I'm driving my 91 crx hf with a dohc zc swap with just I/H/E as my daily driver. Its a fun car, sporty, great daily driver.
What I want to do is this though.
I want to purchase a crx hf shell and turn it into a streetable race car with some good engine swap in it.
I want to keep the engine n/a all motor for now.
I have the ability to get engines relativly cheap through a friend that has a direct connection.
So my options I was considering right now is primary
1.) k24/k20 swap with rbc manifold, intake, header, and exhuast with custom fuel system (wal. pump, pressure reg, fuel lines, fuel rail, larger injectors etc.)
or
2.) some b-series engine with mods to equal the modded k series engines power.
I want the car to be a good 12-13 second streetable car, and tunable to get upper 11s on slicks for track use if nessacary. I plan on building the car however for mainly possible circuit racing and autocross.
What are your guys opinions? For me the k series swap in a rex is awesome, unique, and really cool. I love the engine and its pretty sick...however the b series is a tad easier, and more modifications are available (and less drilling/cutting on the actual car body to....lol)
Budget would be about $6 for either swap I choose.

You would have to be getting the engine absurdly cheap to do a K-swap correctly for $6k. Would the $6k include the shell, suspension, brakes etc that would be required for a high powered swap? A B-Series swap sounds a lot more reasonable for $6000
Like I said I have connections (as nerdy as that sounds-which sounds really nerdy) hes a Japanese guy with a direct connection straight from japan (sounds like some fast and furious **** I know lol)
The 6k would be for engine alone.
I could pick up a shell for $200-500 in my area mattering if it has a engine in it or not. Condition of shell doesn't really matter seeing how suspension would be re-done, and paint job in future, etc. etc.
Without connection I would be looking at spending up to 8k.
Anyone have more opions? I was checking out the b20 with a vtech head. I noticed the fastest all motor crx in the philopeens (blanche racing) runs a b20 with some sort of vtech head. I was also looking at a ls/vtech setup--but I would prefer to drop a engine in with little work that needs to be done, and do some bolt ons and maybe cams etc. down the line.
I was also looking at a h22 type s swap. Yet finding parts for the h22 seems difficult. I haven't found any shift linkage or axles that would work anywhere for example.
I've found the motor mounts (hasport), yet the other essential things seem difficult to find.

more specific? (which b series etc.)
I'm trying to get as much details as possible on the swaps.
In general so far:
B series---cheaper, easier, and easier to find. More mods available. Not quite as unique as k or h series, and possibly eventually going "out of style" (not imo but the general synopsis with the latest k series)
K series--expensive, yet responds real well in relativly inexpensive mods (like rbc manifold etc.) and unique and different.
H series-a little easier and less expensive then the k series, yet parts seem even more difficult to come by then the k seires! lol
Also keep in mind, by the time I really have the $ built up another car may come along on craigslist for 6k lol
For example the other day I saw a eg k20 turbo fully built for 8k selling. lol Yet there is just something about constructing your own car.
I would build this car for race-weekend driver -not daily driver, and autocross with some drag/circuit racing tossed in.
If I'm going to spend the money I wanna make sure I get a engine thats worth it for sure!

B16A, You'll save a lot of money most of which you can use to build the engine to be on par with what you want. Plus have some left over for JDM Goodies.
