what r the biggest bang for your buck??? 98 civic ex (low budget)
Sorry to say with an automatic there's not much you can do.
One idea is to sell it and buy a civic with a 5-speed.
Why don't you leave this car the way it is, save your money, read all you can on here and other Honda sites and then decide what you want to do.
Hey I see your from Hesperia CA, I used to life there while stationed at George AFB. But I'm sure that was before your time...

Best bang for the buck would be forced induction.. turbo or supercharger. If I were you, I'd just buy a new car or invest and get a motor/tranny swap.

x2.
Any major power gains will kill your transmission as well.
You could always do some upgrades that could be transferred to a different chassis- like suspension/wheels and tires, etc.

I wouldn't trust the stock D series auto trans under boost. I've seen 'em blow out too easily.
@ OP:
Right now, the best thing you can do is swap the automatic trans for a manual. Not only are the '92-'00 civic automatic transmissions bad at transferring power to the ground (they don't transfer a lot), but they crap out very easily under "over-stock" torque.

That's simply not true.
I know lots of people who have automatic Hondas, and quite a few with automatic civics. If you don't drive them like an ******* they last fine - and usually attain better gas mileage on the highway than manuals.
It's all the "manual shifting," flooring it from a stop, and shifting while it's moving that toasts the gearbox early. If you drive it like a normal person they last just as long as the rest of the car.
Now on the flipside, if you add tons of power to it, they won't last long at all. Though at stock power they're fine.
They're simply not made to take a lot of stress, but just the weight of the car + people in it + luggage or whatever, isn't enough to stress it out to that extent.

talk to Honda about extending the warranty on most Accords and Odysseys from 98+....you don't have to drive like a jerk to wear out a Honda trans.
Both auto Integras I've owned either had slipping clutch packs or bad torque converters...luckily my MDX hasn't needed a tranny yet @120k miles....it's almost amazing

OP:
I would keep this car stock and use it as a DD with the way gas prices our nowadays and just do research on here. This site has so much information at your disposal it's a shame not to use it. Be patient, read a couple build threads on here, then decide what kind of Honda you want to get and what all you want to do to it. Just remember, it costs a lot of money, so start saving now.
