Default 2002 RSX - CEL on; p1166 & p1167

Hey guys, my girlfriends bone stock rsx is throwing p1166 & p1167 codes. I've done a fair amount of reading other people's situations on the forum. The car is bone stock with 63k miles and is a base model automatic.

I'm pretty sure the problem is the primary o2 sensor (A/F sensor) and I was wondering, could I buy the manual transmission sensor for her automatic car? The price difference between auto and manual is 120, so I'd really like to use the manual one if I could.

This is the Manual Transmission One

Costs 169.99

And this is the Automatic Transmission One

Costs 299.99

Just reset ecu. You sure it's never been modded?

Reset'd it more than once. I brought it to a shop to have it diagnose, and the problem was a AFM code.

Like I said, its my girlfriends car and its bone stock. We left for a week to canada and came back (after her mom used it) and it had a check engine light.

It is your o2 sensor. Had the same code on my EP. The ECU reads it as an air fuel sensor, that is why you are getting an AFM code.

Alright, I'll try buying that USMC. I'll let you know how it goes.

Not sure how late I am on this one. But I just hooked mine up and got the same P1166 code. Mine said undefined. We just changed the clutch so I think it is the O2 sensor as well. Gonna play around and see. Let me know if anyone figured it out.
