Default Help on buying EP3 on craigslist

There's someone selling an '02 EP3 for 8500 on craigslist and I'm pretty interested. It should have the stock K20a1 engine and no mods other than an audio system. Are there any signs I should look out for or any characteristics of this car that I should be aware of when I look over it? I will also be bringing a family friend mechanic but I want to be 100% sure about the purchase myself.

K20A3 -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civic_Si#2002-2005
Check CarFax for vehicle history.
Look for body parts that don't have matching VIN's. Usually a good indicator that it's been in an unreported accident. Your mechanic friend should be able to to figure out the rest.

Edit: You may want to consider going to this forum -> https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum/32
It's the DC5 & EP3 forum. The one you're in now, is for the EM and ES chassis.

8500 sounds about right. I got mine 9 months ago for 8900. Came with some shitty rims that I sold for 400 and a $1000 sounds system with receipts and some H&R springs. If you do decide to buy, Ask owner for receipts on any work that has been done. Also do a carfax report. Mine Has a clean title but I was aware that it had gone over a curb as the guy told me as it had a new bumper that wasnt fully fitted. Also check out under the car if you can. Check the frame, shocks/brakes... pretty much everything you can think of. DONT BE AFRAID TO HAGGLE. Pay attention to the little flaws as these become expensive. Notice something, tell the owner to lower the price a few hundred so you have money to fix it.

I agree really look the car over well and obviously test drive it with the radio off and listen for strange sounds or if the car doesn't feel right. Sounds like a pretty good deal though. Good luck bro.
